“ONE OF THE RAREST ROSES”
30”x54” acrylic on canvas

The biggest piece in the Pixie Motel collection yet.

Paying homage to the hand-painted signs, weathered billboards, faded colors, and wonderfully strange roadside Americana you encounter on road trips. A little nostalgia, A little weird. taken in Atlanta, Georgia by @spencemcdaniel

I hung these two paintings @pontoonbrewing yesterday and they found a new home very quickly. The feedback I’ve received on the Pixie Motel collection has been very positive, which means a lot since it has such a personal beginning. More to come! by @spencemcdaniel

Slowly bringing the Pixie Motel to life! Inspired by road trip americana. I’m currently working on two pieces that will be hanging at a brewery event this month. What do you think of the collection so far?

The newest piece of the Pixie Motel collection!
“Lucky Room Seven” - 3ftx3ft

#pixiemotel #atlart #atlartist

My grandpa was an Air Force fighter pilot in the 50’s, and At some point during his service, an illustrator on base drew him a logo - a tiny pilot parachuting into a shot glass, surrounded by these beautiful, colorful women.
I’ve been fascinated by that drawing since I was a little kid
About ten years ago I started playing with it myself, redrawing it, pulling pieces from it, trying to figure out why I kept coming back to it.
I think Pixie Motel is finally the answer.
It isn’t a recreation of that drawing, but it carries some of its DNA - the women, the color, the humor, the nostalgia, and this strange little piece of Americana that feels like it came from another era.
Ten years of messing with an idea, and it finally found somewhere to live.

I’m super proud of how this latest canvas from my Pixie Motel series came out. Another strange piece of americana road trip inspired art. I can’t wait to continue exploring this concept. The support/kind words I’ve received towards these early pieces means a lot, it’s always a bit strange to put out new work not knowing if it will resonate with people.

“1-800”
Another remnant of the roadside curiosity that is Pixie Motel.

It exists somewhere in time between Key West & Palm Springs.
