A Fundraiser Concert to benefit Midcoast Music Academy’s tuition assistance program.

Last year, 48% of MCMA’s student body received tuition assistance in some amount. The fund also allows the school to offer programming to community organizations at reduced rates when needed. MCMA raises and disburses $40,000 in assistance each year.

Live music from The Speed of Sound and MK Trio.

Caitlin Sackville and I got married 10 years ago today. Before we met, I was as lost as a person could be, but I was trying like hell to get my shit together. I managed to finally get the nose pointed in the right direction, and the universe gifted me with a smart, understanding, supportive and beautiful person to spend my life with. Saying I’m grateful doesn’t cover it. I’m incredibly lucky.

Here’s to at least 2 more years! Love you, BB. taken in Portland City Hall (Maine) by @spenceralbee

Here’s some BTS of The Department of Sound & Vision circling Angelique on her way in to Camden Harbor. The Dept went out with Nathan Pablo to capture the fleet approaching the 2026 Camden Windjammer Festival. Lightly extreme measures were taken to get the shot, which follows. taken in Camden Maine Harbour by @spenceralbee

Great Music with Good Friends: A Fundraiser Concert featuring The Speed of Sound & MKTrio

Join Midcoast Music Academy for an evening of live music with The Speed of Sound and MKTrio - Maine bands with deep ties to MCMA.

October 24th, 7-10pm
@wattshallcommunityarts , 174 Main Street, Thomaston

The Speed of Sound is a Maine-based indie band that blends sharp musicianship, melodic sensibilities, and a love for timeless songwriting. Fronted by Spencer Albee on lead vocals, vintage keyboards, and rhythm guitar, the group features Zachary Bence @zhbence (lead guitar, background vocals), Jake Greenlaw @jjgreenlaw (drums, background vocals), and Caleb Sweet @sweet.caleb (bass, background vocals). The band has a hankering for Wonder, Hendrix, Little Feat, McCartney, The Meters, Zeppelin, Hancock, Bowie, Zevon, and Detroit-era Motown.

MKtrio is Myles Kelley (keys), August Duclos @augustduclosbass (bass), and Owen Markowitz @owenmarkowitzdrums (drums). Myles and Owen both grew up in Midcoast ME, forever in debt to the angels at MCMA, but August is from The Big Apple. They describe their music as loud, quiet, medium, good, bad, ugly, locally grown and unflinching.

This all-ages fundraiser features a cash bar and raffle, with proceeds supporting Midcoast Music Academy's founding principal to never turn a dedicated student away. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door and can be purchased at www.midcoastmusicacademy.com/mcma-concert (link in bio).
