1. Studio time. Renting studios to test lighting, experiment, fail and figure out what actually works.

2. Gear. Cameras, lenses, lighting and equipment that allow me to push my work further.

3. Clothes. Looking the part, building my wardrobe and understanding fashion beyond just photographing it.

4. Test shoots. Unpaid, self funded shoots that helped me build my portfolio, experiment and eventually attract paid work.

5. Lighting. Learning how to control light instead of relying on good locations completely changed my photography.

6. Retouching. Learning and Investing in professional retouching and learning how to take an image from good to campaign ready.

7. Building a team. Models, makeup artists, stylists, assistants and other creatives. You can’t do everything alone.

8. Video. Learning motion and cinematography has allowed me to offer more than just still photography.

9. Social media. Consistently creating, posting and putting my work out there has brought opportunities and connected me with people I wouldn’t have met otherwise.

10. Representation. Having professional representation has been an important step in taking my career more seriously.

11. My time. Six years of shooting, learning, experimenting, making mistakes and constantly improving.
