On 1/7/25 Ryan Ulrich rode his bike west on Cesar Chavez at Illinois. He had a green light when a pickup driver made a left turn and nailed him. San Francisco police have failed to investigate this case. The driver left the pickup and fled into muni on foot. The pickup is owned by his relative. The driver is a muni mechanic. At 11 seconds in upper right frame, you see the headlights and then his 220-lb body go flying. He has serious injuries. Police in reports have withheld names of witnesses. Why? Police have never shown Ryan a photo lineup of suspects. Why not? It looks like police are trying to protect a fellow city worker. #sanfrancisco #corruption by @spencerpi

This is Ryan. On Jan. 7, 2025, 7:04 am, a pickup truck driven by a Muni mechanic made an illegal left turn at Illinois and Cesar Chavez and struck him on his bike. The impact knocked Ryan at leaat 50 feet. San Francisco police in all this time have never shown him a photo lineup of the suspect. The driver was in a truck owned by his brother-in-law, left at the scene. There are at least three witnesses, and San Francisco police are refusing to give me names of some of them. Suit has already been filed. In San Francisco, unless you have juice or are a tech bro, police don’t give a shit. It’s a felony hit and run and police started at third base but don’t want to make a case. Corruption or laziness? Ryan had and has serious injuries. by @spencerpi

Have a San Francisco story that might hit the news Wednesday. Involves a hit-and-run at this location 1.5 years ago. Police know who did it and will not really investigate. They claim no video from the incident. Bike rider could have been killed. by @spencerpi

As a licensed private investigator, I drive the most anonymous Camry. Over the decades I’ve followed hundreds of vehicles, usually for serving papers on evading subjects. Vehicles like this one make my job really easy. This was not my person tonight but found someone tonight in San Francisco based on his pickup truck. The point is you are your car. I had this story for 21 years then I decided to look into what really happened. It was a 1998 #coldcase murder of a San Francisco biker I once had under surveillance in a family law case. My #truecrime podcast won a James Madison Freedom of Information award. It's a 7-part series, original reporting. I fought for five years to win the casefile and audiotapes from San Francisco police. There is no other podcast or story like this. Police failed. They lost evidence. The district attorney claimed it had no records of an uncharged murder. by @spencerpi

Another fulfilling career day at Edna Brewer middle school in Oakland. As an aging #privateinvestigator I’m always concerned with how I relate to the public. It’s how I make my money. What better way to practice than with all age ranges in a diverse city? Plus, I’m a huge fan of public education. Such energy at the school, boisterous but well-behaved. Had them do scene diagrams and just did a Q&A. by @spencerpi

We dig harder when we are told no. Under Ca law, police are required to name witnesses in traffic collisions. If they released body cam footage with witness names and phone numbers, what is sacred about this one witness?. #privateinvestigator #sanfrancisco by @spencerpi
