Trying to get three dogs to sit and look at the camera is harder than organizing a Photo Library! 🤪 We love photos & dogs 😍 #likeherdingcats #photoarchives #photoorganizing #dogsofinstagram #dogphotography by @spfedit

It’s not pretty! 🫣 Yet! Just a very early part of the process. The story: I organized my photos years ago but I’ve inherited a lot of family photos which need to be sorted, incorporated chronologically and digitized so I can access them on my phone. The emotional work going through all of these photos is so bittersweet - at times I’ve had to stop and walk away because my heart is aching. 💔💔💔 If only there was a service who could do this for me??🤔 More on all of this to come. For this part of the process our tools are acid free clear bags, post it’s, sharpies and GRIT!

We’re leaf peeper people!! We set up a temporary studio in upstate NY for a few days to immerse ourselves in the glorious fall color. We’re working on a large print job - our client wants to reduce her 15,000 photos by 75%. At this point in this project we have collated the photos into ‘years’. We are now organizing into months and at the same time doing a ‘hard’ select for scanning. You can see some of the tools of our trade here; all very low tech - plastic bins, acid free clear bags, post-its, sharpies and of course our floofy assistants Otis and Dustball!

Betty got behind the camera and took a Dry Plate Tintype photography course @penlandschool. Here are some of her efforts! Exciting, humbling, a wonderful process and exploration. Instructor Steven Takacs @brownieinmotion with studio assist Mat Marrash @filmphotographyproject taught the class the basics and beyond.
The last slide is the double exposure class portrait taken by @brownieinmotion Remember - no one can see you cry in the dark room!

What a quick bit of organizing turned up! Old 35mm film - expired 1977 😂 ¼ inch audio tape - will send to lab to be digitized and find out its secrets. Fun finds!
