// MADRID M O L A // I needed to 𝓈𝒽𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝒾𝓉 𝓊𝓅. Something different. Something new.

My #bestfriend has been doing my hair for over 15-years (I’m not that old, we’ve just known each other that long 💁🏽‍♀️) so she got on a plane from HAWAII🌺 to SPAIN🇪🇸 and brought me back to life. MMM G O O D I E S | 𝒜 𝒸𝑜𝓊𝓅𝓁𝑒 𝓎𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈 𝒶𝑔𝑜 my mentee and I stopped by the custard truck in Eastern Market (DC) for a treat. WOW! Even though I no longer live in the #DMV, I still talk about this frozen custard!! So, you can imagine how excited I was to learn that my cousin is a @mmmgoodies enthusiast and knew the Alexandria neighborhood they’d be in the week I was visiting. It was overcast and fixing to rain, but we were determined to get our treats. 😋 MMM worth it!! 📍Today, @MMMGoodies will be at the ICE HOUSE, 200 Commerce Street. 12-4p or sold out

D A D D I O | 𝒲𝒽𝑒𝓃 𝐼 𝓌𝒶𝓈 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓃𝑔𝑒𝓇, my parents took my sister and I on many adventures! We would travel the beautiful #PNW with a cooler full of food, a tank filled with gas, and most likely smooth jazz on the radio. I loved being introduced to new sights and cultures! 🤍 Some of my favorite memories include when my dad drove us to the Yakama Reservation in Toppenish, WA to appreciate the beautiful and rich Native American culture and when we’d head west and have lunch at Mt. Rainier. Sometimes we’d cross state lines, by car or plane, to visit family all around the country. And that one time we crossed the pond, stopping in Holland on our way to Sudan. I especially loved these adventures.🤩 My dad til this day speaks life over the very hunger for travel and adventure he and my mother gave me a taste of over 30 years ago. He taught me to appreciate the culture of others and to be proud of my own. He has supported every dream, every whim, every travel, every breath of my life and, for him, I could not be more grateful.
So, #happyfathersday to me, basically, because I lucked out. Big time.

Studio sessions | 𝒹𝒾𝒹 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓀𝓃𝑜𝓌 that I recorded a song in #Madrid ? I was incredibly blessed to become friends with some incredible people who just so happened to be incredible musicians! My amigos truly made my abroad experience. There was an instant friendship and bond over cultural appreciation and respect. Truly, I got so lucky.

THE V I B E | As you can 𝒾𝓂𝒶𝑔𝒾𝓃𝑒, a major city like #Madrid is always pulsating with the hustle and bustle of its residents. Here again in Tribunal, coming up from the metro, I stepped onto the sidewalk of this trendy neighborhood and caught this < statement piece > and had to turn on my inner paparazzi. STANDING S T I L L | survival tactics spring like 𝒸𝓁𝑜𝒸𝓀𝓌𝑜𝓇𝓀, but i’m preparing for a new normal. //
I can’t remember exactly where in Madrid, from my walk from @plantatecafe to Taste of America, this building is, but the still clock in a seemingly abandoned building caused me pause. Anyone recognize it?

#travelhack TOA is an overpriced “American” chain store. If you’re moving to Madrid (or other areas) link up with people who travel and can bring your fav snacks over for you. (Shipping fees are outrageous! Don’t do it!) I was celebrating an American holiday with other expats, so decided to check it out. Didn’t find what I was looking for, but it was still interesting to pop in. // 4.20.19 ▫️
