The 1898 comes with a 2S 500 mAh Li-ion pack, rated at an estimated 10C, and it provides more than enough power and torque for this little machine. The throttle response feels strong, the car keeps pulling surprisingly well, and thereโ€™s never really a sense that the tiny brushed motor is being starved for current.
But hereโ€™s the part that impressed me even more:
around 22โ€“25 minutes of runtime! ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ”‹
And thatโ€™s not 22 minutes of gently cruising around trying to save battery either. Iโ€™m talking about driving it properly, with the throttle pinned most of the time. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚
For a small 2S 500 mAh pack pushing a relatively heavy metal-bodied RC car, that combination of performance and runtime is seriously impressive.
And thatโ€™s probably the best part about this car:
You donโ€™t need ridiculous power to have ridiculous fun.
For indoor driving, small spaces, improvised living-room circuits and some relaxed drifting between furniture legs ๐Ÿ˜…, the LDR/C 1898 is an incredibly entertaining little package.
Beautiful metal body.
Loads of functional lights.
Gyro-assisted drifting.
Surprisingly strong performance.
Excellent runtime.
And a price that makes it very easy to justify adding one to the collection. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ
You can find plenty of versions of the 1898 on AliExpress, Banggood, and other RC/modeling stores, and for what it costs, I can absolutely recommend it.
In short:
A lot of fun for not a lot of money. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ
And rememberโ€ฆ it may say COLF on the side, but after 20-something minutes of tiny Porsche-shaped powerslides around the living room, your brain will be far too busy going โ€œWHEEEE!โ€ to care. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ Tiny 70s vibes, BIG personality!
Meet the LDR/C 1898, a little RC machine wrapped in a beautiful metal body inspired by a very familiar 1970s Porsche. ๐Ÿ˜
And yesโ€ฆ you probably recognize that legendary light-blue-and-orange racing combination too. Since the manufacturer obviously didn't have the official license, the famous โ€œGulfโ€ becameโ€ฆ โ€œColf.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚
But honestly? Who cares.
Because once this little thing starts moving, the badge on the side becomes completely irrelevant. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ
What really makes the 1898 special is just how much character LDR/C managed to squeeze into such a small and affordable RC car.
โœ… Front headlights
โœ… Rear lights
โœ… Brake lights
โœ… Reverse lights
โœ… Working turn signals
โœ… Normal on-road driving mode
โœ… Adjustable gyro for drifting
Turn the lights on and suddenly it stops looking like a cheap little RC toy and starts behaving like a proper miniature classic cruising around your living room. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
And then you switch to gyro-assisted driftingโ€ฆ
Thatโ€™s when things get spicy. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ˆ
The metal body also gives the car a surprisingly substantial feel. The body itself brings plenty of weight, with the complete car coming in at around 575 g with chassis and battery, yet the drifting still looks smooth, progressive, and surprisingly realistic.
Even more impressive is what happens under the hood.
Thereโ€™s no insane brushless setup hiding in thereโ€”just a tiny brushed 150 motor. But thanks to an excellent transmission ratio, the 1898 delivers genuinely impressive acceleration and, especially, very strong speed recovery coming out of corners.
It simply feels much quicker and more energetic than its modest little motor would suggest. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ
And the original battery deserves some credit too. ๐Ÿ”‹๐ŸŒถ๏ธ by @spicyrclab

And the tiny 2S LiPo with its hilariously overkill 60โ€“120C discharge rating?
Same story. ๐Ÿ˜‚
The two little 260 motors are probably looking at that battery like:
"Sirโ€ฆ we only asked for a little electricity." ๐Ÿซฃโšก๐Ÿคฃ
But heyโ€ฆ nobody ever said the Spicy RC Lab was about doing only what's necessary. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ˆ
Sometimes half the fun is building something that takes itself slightly more seriously than it should. ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ”ง
Cheap chassis.
Simple electronics.
Lots of homemade tinkering.
Maximum therapy.
Maximum fun. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Stay tunedโ€ฆ this little tracked troublemaker will soon be crawling around the Spicy RC Lab! ๐Ÿช–๐Ÿ’จ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ by @spicyrclab

๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Another budget-friendly project is slowly coming to life at the Spicy RC Lab! ๐Ÿช–๐Ÿ”ฅ
This time, I'm playing around with a super cheap tracked tank chassis โ€” nothing fancy, nothing exoticโ€ฆ and that's exactly why I like it. ๐Ÿ˜†
The little beast comes with dual brushed 260 motors, making it a perfect platform for homemade RC experiments, modifications, and all those questionable ideas that somehow become projects around here. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ง๐Ÿคฃ
Just like my Playmobil Ghost Pirate Ship, I'm keeping the electronics simple and familiar: a dedicated receiver for my FlySky FS-i4, paired with two brushed ESCs, one controlling each motor independently.
Left motor, right motor, two channelsโ€ฆ good old tank steering. ๐Ÿ•น๏ธ
And honestly, this is where these cheap RC projects become almost therapeutic.
Anyone who loves building budget RCs like I do probably knows exactly what I mean. There's something strangely relaxing about figuring out where everything should go, cutting wires to exactly the length the project "asks for", slipping on some heat-shrink tubing, carefully routing everything, sticking the electronics down with double-sided tapeโ€ฆ and finally plugging each ESC into its proper receiver channel.
Simple stuff.
But ridiculously satisfying. ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ”ง๐ŸŒถ๏ธ
These projects don't need expensive carbon fiber, CNC aluminum or crazy brushless systems to be fun. Sometimes a cheap plastic chassis, two brushed motors, a handful of electronics and an evening at the workbench are more than enough.
Because when you're genuinely into this hobby, the project may be cheapโ€ฆ but the excitement of seeing your homemade creation move for the first time is priceless. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ”ฅ
Ohโ€ฆ and yes, I know what you're thinking about that tiny cooling fan. ๐Ÿ˜†
Let's be clear: it's mostly there for status. ๐Ÿคฃ
Does this little brushed tank actually need it? Probably not.
Does it make the project look approximately 73% more sophisticated and unnecessarily noble? Absolutely. ๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿง๐Ÿคก by @spicyrclab

๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Apparently even street fighters need a coffee breakโ€ฆ or in Axel and Estelโ€™s case, an RC drift break. ๐Ÿ˜„
Between one street fight and the next, these two somehow discovered SpicyRCLab. Axel immediately wanted more speed, more angle and absolutely no common sense. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ Estel, of course, insisted that control matters more than powerโ€ฆ right before beating his lap time. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ†
Now the real fights start when thereโ€™s only one transmitter left on the table. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ

๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜ญ Maybe this is one of the reasons you don't see nearly as many people buying the 2S-powered Pro models. ๐Ÿคฃ
8.4V on a fully charged 2S LiPo in one of these tiny 1/24 cars is no joke. That extra power basically comes with one simple rule: twice the power = twice the attention. ๐Ÿ˜…โšก๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿ˜ญ
Compared to the more popular 1S Li-ion versions, one tiny mistake can become โ€œfatalโ€ very quickly. ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜ญ
In my case, the body took the hit โ€” and honestly, as unlucky as that sounds, I still consider myself lucky. ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ€
Because if you snap an axle, damage the drivetrain, or break pretty much anything important on one of these little 1/24 machinesโ€ฆ wellโ€ฆ you might as well start preparing the funeral. โšฐ๏ธ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ
Replacement parts aren't exactly waiting for you around every corner. ๐Ÿ’€
So if you want the Pro version with roughly double the voltage and a whole lot more attitude, remember: double the power, double the respect. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ”ฅ
And maybe calm your inner Max Verstappen a little โ€” especially if you're driving indoors. ๐Ÿคฃ๐ŸŽ๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ
Oh, and if you're running racing/grip tires instead of drift tires?
Yeahโ€ฆ then calm him down A LOT. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ”ฅ
These tiny things are ridiculously fun on 2Sโ€ฆ right up until the furniture suddenly becomes part of the track. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿช‘๐Ÿ˜ญ
Ask me how I know. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ”ฅ
2S was fun. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ”ฅ
โ€ฆfor approximately 4.7 seconds.
No RC cars were harmed in the making of this post.
Okayโ€ฆ that's a lie. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ’€

๐Ÿ† That's what makes the S814 Pro so good.
It isn't impressive simply because it's a cheap 1/24 car that can handle 2S. It's impressive because the entire package feels like the extra performance actually belongs there.
Speed 1 gives you the familiar, controllable character of the original S814.
Speed 2 gives you the extra fire. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ
And unlike my poor OverPeppered experiment, it doesn't sound or feel like the drivetrain is quietly writing its last will and testament while you're driving it. ๐Ÿคฃโš™๏ธ๐Ÿ’€
For such a low-priced little RC, the ACAMMZAR S814 Pro is an amazingly refined piece of engineering โ€” and with the lightweight Gens Ace 2S 300mAh 45C LiPo, it becomes an even better tiny drift machine. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ”ฅ
๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ More S814 Pro videos coming soon!
I'll be putting this little beast through more tests, drifts and abuse over the coming weeks and months... so there will definitely be more to come. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐ŸŽ๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

Eventually, the OverPeppered's drivetrain paid the price. The transmission shifted out of position to the point where the gears would no longer mesh properly. And since replacement drivetrain parts for these little cars are unfortunately almost nonexistent... RIP OverPeppered. ๐Ÿชฆ๐ŸŒถ๏ธโšกโ™ป๏ธ
Straight to electronic recycling heaven. ๐Ÿ˜…
And that's exactly why the factory-engineered S814 Pro is such a welcome option. Instead of forcing 2S power into a platform that wasn't designed for it, you get the extra performance straight from the factory in a package that feels smooth, balanced and mechanically comfortable doing it.
There is, however, one upgrade I strongly recommend:
๐Ÿ”‹ Replace the original 500mAh 2S Li-ion battery with a Gens Ace 300mAh 2S 45C LiPo.
Despite having a lower advertised capacity, in my experience the Gens Ace brings basically nothing but advantages to this car.
โœ… Only 16g, compared with approximately 37g for the original 500mAh Li-ion โ€” less than half the weight
โœ… Fits much more easily inside the battery compartment
โœ… The 45C discharge capability gives the car a little extra punch under acceleration
โœ… Removing around 21g from such a tiny 1/24 car makes a very noticeable difference
โœ… Approximately 16 minutes of runtime
And the last point is particularly interesting.
You might expect the much heavier 500mAh Li-ion to destroy a 300mAh LiPo in runtime... but in practice it doesn't. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
The original 2S Li-ion setup runs for approximately 17 minutes before its protection/electrical system cuts the power, while the little 300mAh Gens Ace LiPo gives me approximately 16 minutes.
So all that extra battery weight and size buys me... about one minute. ๐Ÿ˜…
For me, that's an extremely easy trade.
The lighter LiPo fits better, removes 21 grams from the car and offers stronger discharge characteristics while sacrificing virtually nothing in practical runtime. On something this small, saving that much weight is huge. by @spicyrclab

๐ŸŒถ๏ธ ACAMMZAR S814 Pro โ€” cheap price, surprisingly serious engineering ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ”ฅ
The more I drive the ACAMMZAR S814 Pro, the more impressive it becomes โ€” especially considering how inexpensive this little 1/24 RC actually is. For the price, the overall quality, refinement and performance are genuinely surprising. ๐Ÿ‘Œ
If I had to point out one thing that could still be improved, I would love to see more steering angle for deeper drift angles. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ It isn't quite as aggressive as a purpose-built drift steering setup could be. But considering the tiny 1/24 scale, what it offers is still perfectly usable and works very well.
What really fascinates me, though, is how well ACAMMZAR seems to have engineered the additional 2S performance into the car.
I don't know exactly what was changed internally. Maybe the motor was specifically configured for 2S, maybe the transmission was reinforced and/or given a different reduction ratio, or perhaps it's a combination of several changes. Whatever they did, you can clearly feel the result behind the wheel.
๐Ÿข Speed 1:
The S814 Pro behaves almost exactly like the original non-Pro S814 and other good 1/24 drift cars running on 1S Li-ion power. The speed is familiar, predictable and very easy to control.
๐Ÿ˜ˆ Speed 2:
Press the speed button on the transmitter and the personality changes immediately. Now it is noticeably faster and stronger than those 1S cars, with much more energetic acceleration โ€” yet somehow it remains smooth, quiet, composed and surprisingly gentle.
And THAT is where the engineering really deserves some credit. ๐Ÿ†
My homemade "OverPeppered" 2S experiment was definitely crazy and entertaining ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿคฃ, but simply throwing more power at the original platform had consequences. It became much harder to control, considerably more mechanically stressed and had only around 11 minutes of runtime, versus approximately 16 minutes with the S814 Pro โ€” roughly 31% less runtime. by @spicyrclab

๐ŸŒถ๏ธ The wait is finally over โ€” the ACAMMZAR S814 Pro has arrived! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ”ฅ
And after the first tests, I can already say that it genuinely surprised me โ€” not simply because it's faster, but because of how smooth, refined, and well-balanced the entire package feels.
In Speed 1, its performance feels very similar to the original S814 and other good 1/24-scale cars running on 1S: smooth, predictable, easy to control, and perfectly suited for indoor drifting.
Switch to Speed 2, however, and the personality changes noticeably. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ The car becomes clearly stronger and faster, with much more energetic acceleration โ€” but without the almost violent, mechanically stressed feeling of my Homemade OverPeppered 2S build. ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ
And that's probably the biggest compliment I can give the S814 Pro: the extra performance feels engineered into the car rather than simply added to it.
The drivetrain is impressively smooth, quiet and confidence-inspiring, with virtually no noticeable vibration. Everything feels much more refined and mechanically composed, even when using the higher-speed setting.
The factory upgrades really transformed an already very good platform:
โœ… 2S Li-ion power
โœ… Two selectable speed modes
โœ… Fully proportional throttle
โœ… Proper servo steering with adjustment
โœ… Adjustable gyro for much better stability and drift control
โœ… Factory motor cooling with a dedicated heatsink
โœ… A drivetrain that feels remarkably smooth and well matched to the additional power
The combination of gyro + servo steering makes an especially dramatic difference. The car is considerably easier to place, correct and hold during a drift, giving it a level of precision the original S814 simply couldn't offer.
This is what impressed me most: ACAMMZAR didn't just take the old S814 and throw more voltage at it. The S814 Pro feels like a properly engineered evolution of the entire platform.
The original S814 was already a very enjoyable little 1/24 RC. With the S814 Pro, the added 2S performance, servo steering, gyro, cooling and overall refinement have turned it into an excellent little drift machine for this scale. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ
