Yes — you can potentially go safely, but only with strict supervision, because tulips are toxic to dogs if eaten or chewed. Tulips contain compounds (tulipalin A and B) that can cause vomiting, drooling, diarrhea, lethargy, and worse in larger exposures. The bulbs are the most toxic part, but petals/leaves/stems can also cause problems.

My honest recommendation

If your dog is the type who:

* eats grass/plants
* sniffs obsessively and mouths things
* digs
* steals dropped items
* is a puppy or very curious

…then I’d skip the tulip field or keep the visit extremely controlled.

If you do go, safest approach:

* Keep your dog on a short lead the whole time.
* Don’t allow sniffing/licking/chewing flowers or soil.
* Prevent digging (bulbs are highest risk).
* Bring water and treats so they’re less likely to graze.
* Watch for fallen petals or trampled plants.
* Avoid crowded photo areas where supervision slips.

Important note

Some tulip festivals have started restricting or banning dogs after safety incidents, so check the venue’s current rules before going.

If your dog eats any tulip

Call your vet promptly, especially if there is:

* vomiting
* drooling
* diarrhea
* shaking
* weakness
* strange breathing

Bottom line

A calm, well-trained dog that ignores plants can often visit safely under close control. A dog that nibbles anything? Not worth the risk. by @spid_eryx
