Extra in a part of a play that will come to an end one fine day. Seeing the grand wonder of life in the small things. Carrier of the mc1r mutation.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
"The past, like a tangled ball of yarn, eventually straightened itself out. I'd been strong so far, and I would continue to be. I knew that the accident that made the Time Rewinder unusable made me who I was today. My life may be like a piece of gum someone chewed and spat out, but I would endure it and extract every last molecule of sweetness from it."

- Gu Byeong-mo

Multitasking - always thinking sometimes drinking.

Seeking beauty in the little things. The present moment, sometimes lost in translation, Is a doorway between the past and future...

Life.

"The past exists only in our memories, the future only in our plans. The present is our only reality. The tree that you are aware of intellectually, because of that small time lag, is always in the past and therefore is always unreal. Any intellectually conceived object is always in the past and therefore unreal. Reality is always the moment of vision before the intellectualization takes place. There is no other reality."

- Robert Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values (Phaedrus, #1)

Perhaps everything we share is just a story or a song. But stories and songs are important. They allow us to connect. The connections are real.

Once upon a time, a long, long, time ago...

Happy Birthday to me!

"Growing up happens in a heartbeat. Once day you're in diapers, the next day you're gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul. I remember a place, a town, a house, like a lot of houses. A yard like a lot of other yards. On a street like a lot of other streets. And the thing is, after all these years, I still look back... with wonder.

-Kevin from the finale of the Wonder Years (written by Daniel Stern).

During the school holidays I had one of those bittersweet moments. The moments that give you the greatest joy and the deepest sadness at the same time. My eldest son arranged, for his first ever time, to visit the city with a group of his friends for lunch and some clothes shopping. I also headed into to the city with my youngest son where we had a wonderful day at the museum, in the Chinese Garden of Friendship, and browsing some bookstores.

The day was beautiful because I was able to get a glimpse of one son's independence and a bit of alone time with the other. The sadness lies in the knowledge that times where the three of us travel for a big day together are becoming fewer.

Here is one of my favourite photos of three of us in Fiji.

Make some good memories while you can.

"This is thy hour O Soul, thy free flight into the wordless,
Away from books, away from art, the day erased,
the lesson done,
Thee fully forth emerging, silent, gazing,
pondering the themes thou lovest best,
Night, sleep, death, and the stars."

-Walt Whitman, A Clear Midnight.

A new colony grows in the Dharawal/Macarthur region. A young pup enters the realm of cosmic connection and eternal slumber.

Forever young, may your soul fly free into the wordless on Fruitbat Friday!

"may my heart always be open to little
birds who are the secrets of living
whatever they sing is better than to know
and if men should not hear them men are old"

"We should meet in another life, we should meet in air,
Me and you."

Sylvia Plath, Lesbos.

Or, perhaps ...

We should meet halfway my friend, in the comforting branches a tree,
You and me.

"Fly away, pretty moth, to the shade Of the leaf where you slumbered all day; Be content with the moon and the stars, pretty moth, And make use of your wings while you may. . . . . But tho' dreams of delight may have dazzled you quite, They at last found it dangerous play; Many things in this world that look bright, pretty moth, Only dazzle to lead us astray."

- Thomas Haynes Bayly

It's been a decade since the Bogong Moths visited in such numbers on their annual migration to the alpine regions.

Listed in the international red list as endangered, their population collapsed by 99% in the years between 2017 and 2019.

Now, the most beautiful recovery begins. It's an absolute pleasure to see these beautiful creatures as they gather in their resting places during the day and then take flight in their thousands as twilight turns to dusk.

Safe journeys as you circle the skies and as you play your role in the circle of life.

“Not I, nor anyone else can travel that road for you. You must travel it by yourself. It is not far. It is within reach. Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know. Perhaps it is everywhere – on water and land.”

— Walt Whitman, Song of Myself (1892 version), 46.

I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us -- don't tell!
They'd advertise -- you know!

How dreary to be somebody!
How public like a frog
To tell one's name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!

-Emily Dickinson, I'm nobody! Who are you?
