🇨🇦Canadian keeper/breeder of tarantulas. Follow along while I learn what keeping a ton of spiders is like while tackling arachnophobia with my son!

What a treat!! Velvie, my son's Grammostola pulchra, molted last night! This clip is a super condensed version of a process that took somewhere between 6 and 8 hours! Enjoy a little shred sesh by Jason Richardson while you watch ❤️

Ever seen a tarantula comfort it's prey? It looks like Chaos is stroking this roach's head as if to calm it down 🤣 definitely just trying to find a soft spot to puncture again though. Enjoy a little fang action 🤘

Not tarantula related but had to share! We just got our first #pokemon card back from #grading! Little man pulled this banger a couple years ago in an ETB and it came back a Gem Mint 10! 9th highest score out of the 142 of them with this grade 🤘 gonna have to get a display made for it to put in his room 😁 snuggly #pikachu is too cute.

Huge shout out to my brother Matt @pinelvault
For submitting this card for us 🤘 thanks for keeping the grade a secret until we got to open it together 😁🔥

Had this one in my drafts from back in February 😆 this male Nhandu tripepii is quite the tank. His name is Dozer, and hopefully he'll be meeting his future girlfriend in the next few months! He's getting pretty big now. Purchased from @trulytarantulas as with the majority of our collection.
Not sponsored, but if you're in Canada you should check him out. Great selection, and he's a solid human to support 🤘 by @spidrdaddy

Well, spotted at @piscespets and I couldn't resist 😆 super high on the list of pretty spiders we want in the collection, these guys don't get very big, topping out around 3" if female and mature in around 3 or 4 years. The baby in there is around ¼" tiny! I'll get a rehouse video done tomorrow so you all can see how adorable this little guy is ❤️

Couple years til mine looks like this but wowza!

MAN IS ONE WITH THE FIRE AT THE CENTER OF THE EARTH! This banger for tonight's #takedownwithabreakdown is by Australian deathcore legends, @thyartinstagram and is called Light Bearer. You should probably give the whole album it's from (Holy War) a listen if you haven't and you like metal.

This is Midas, our Phormictopus auratus, or Cuban Bronze. Decided to bite and come back for a second try after I won round 1 🤣

Fun little rehouse of a beautiful little Poecilotheria Metallica, shot by my little man! He's 10, so cut him some slack ❤️ I think he did a great job and he'll keep getting better!

Little bugger almost took off on me again 🤣 bolted on me a couple weeks ago while I was checking on her and giving her some water. Soooooo fast 😵‍💫

These guys are insanely rare in the wild, with some reports saying they're endemically extinct, so most of the population of this tarantula is actually in captivity around the world by hobbyists and breeders like me! They're also known for some rather potent venom, so I try my best to be careful with these guys. But they're so pretty you gotta get close 🤣❤️🥰

What a weekend. 🕷️🖤

To everyone who walked up to our tables, took a breath, and sat down, we thank you.

We met dozens of you this weekend who came in carrying genuine, deep-seated fear. Stepping up to look a massive, fuzzy spider in the eyes isn't easy when the world has spent your whole life telling you to run the other way. But you asked questions. You stayed curious. You trusted us with that hesitation, and watching terror dissolve into wide-eyed fascination right there in front of us is the absolute best part of what we do. Seeing someone go from trembling hands to leaning closer whispering "wait, they're actually so pretty!" never gets old.

And we can't forget those of you who came without fear too! The eager hands and bright smiles are always nice to see, and you guys always have the best questions ❤️ I've pinned that time lapse of Velvies molt to my main grid so you don't have to dig for it 😉

But none of those breakthrough moments happen without the community that builds the stage for them. A massive thank you to @alberta_reptiles for organizing and running such an incredible event for our community. And endless love and gratitude to our good friends at @InclusiveInverts for having us out to team up and share space once again!

If you stopped by, met our eight-legged crew, asked a question, or conquered a fear this weekend, drop a comment and say hi. Keep that curiosity alive! Misunderstood doesn’t mean unlovable.

See you all next season!

Dinner time for one of our Thrixopelma cyaneolum "blue phase" babies. These little guys are always hungry ❤️

Apologies for the lack of post yesterday for those of you looking forward to it! Anyways, here it is, with a classic by @northlane called Exposure.

Hey #Calgary if you're looking for something to do this coming weekend come say hey and get over a fear! Or indulge your curiosity. Either way, we'll have a selection of our most chill tarantulas available to meet. Come by @inclusiveinverts booth to chat, learn, or sit for some one on one exposure therapy! There will also be snakes, possibly a couple geckos, and some other invertebrates to meet too!

We'll also have some live moss, isopods, my custom substrate blend, and some enclosure decor for sale!

Don't just come for us either, make sure to check out all the other great #artists and shops showing off their amazing wares this weekend!

New album drop from @lefttosuffer has Fuzzbutt going savage on a roach tonight 🤘 Fuzzbutt is one of our Nicaraguan Curly Hair Tarantulas (Tliltocatl albopilosus) and this little monster has always had a great feeding response. Enjoy tonight's takedown with a breakdown!

Absolute banger of a track. If you haven't given it a listen you should. Fuck the haters, keep on creating. They're just noise anyways!
