This collection is rooted in my years as a competitive figure skater — a world built around beauty, discipline and perfection, while hiding pain underneath.

Figure skating, much like ballet, is perceived as soft, feminine and almost effortless. But underneath that aesthetic lies an extremely aggressive sport: repetition until the body gives in, injuries, physical control, pressure and pain — all while being expected to make it look graceful.

My body became something to control, shape and push beyond its limits. Behind the elegance were injuries, pressure, abuse of power and the expectation to make suffering look effortless.

Every symbol in the collection carries a piece of that experience. Hair represents stress: under extreme pressure, I used to pull out my own hair. In the collection, it is transformed into something controlled and disciplined — stress becoming discipline.

Syringes represent the manipulation of the body and the pressure to keep performing. The metal handle represents violence, while restraints, eyelets and straps reference control and restriction.

These aggressive elements exist against soft, handmade crochet in the same way aggression exists beneath the beauty of figure skating.

Softness becomes aggression.
Stress becomes discipline.
Pain becomes performance.
Beauty becomes something manufactured.

MANUFACTURED GRACE is about the violence hidden behind grace — and turning what once controlled me into something of my own.
