If you’re wondering why Spinal Destination exists, I’m gonna tell ya… ⬇️

In February this year, I lost my best friend. I know this might sound a little “too much” for some people, but to others it will resonate. He was the one person in the whole world, I could be myself around, he would encourage me and he would always be my shining guide.

Losing him has been heartbreaking, I miss him everyday and there’s a space in my heart that will never heal, however, my dad was a fighter, he was strong, he was resilient and if he can’t carry on life, then I’m going to do it for him.

Spinal Destination exists for that reason; to carry the light moving forward in Dads memory, whilst raising awareness about Prostate Cancer and Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression. We’re here to build a community and bring people together to create a safe space for all those affected, whilst celebrating life, resilience and togetherness.

We’re not here to replace the incredible work of charities like Prostate Cancer UK. They’re funding vital research and leading the fight against prostate cancer, and we’re proud to support and stand alongside them, however, we are here to raise more awareness and create a outdoors community full of strength. Nature is our happy place, it’s healing and it’s whole.

Spinal Destination isn’t just about loss. It’s about living fully, creating memories, and building a community of hope. 💛

If you’ve been affected by Prostate Cancer or MSCC it would be great to have you here with us.

I DID IT! 💛 214 WAINWRIGHTS! ⛰️

Yesterday, as per the plan a year ago, I summitted my last Wainwright on my wonderful Dad’s birthday with close friends and family.

In February 2025, we all lost the most amazing man to Prostate Cancer, 18 months after being diagnosed. In October 2025, on his birthday 4th October, I set myself a challenge to climb all 214 Wainwrights in one year in honour of him, and to raise funds and awareness for @prostatecanceruk .

And yesterday… on his birthday, I DID JUST THAT!

Before the cancer took over, spread to his bones and paralysed him from the waist down, Dad climbed Latrigg and we talked about him completing many more, but unfortunately, he didn’t do any more after Latrigg due to becoming to poorly and bed bound. So the mission became clear, I’ll do it for him.

I’ve been out in all weathers and dedicated almost every weekend to completing this, and I couldn’t be prouder. I have managed to raise enough money to hit my target of £1000 and more.

I wanted to say a huge thank you, to every single person who has supported me. Whether it be family, friends, colleagues or people I don’t even know. You’ve all been incredible and I wouldn’t be able to do it without all of your support.

I’d also like to thank @theyorkshirewanderer for giving me his time and effort yesterday and capturing such a special day for us all. You were incredible and I can’t wait to see the rest of the photos.

Dad, I hope you were with me and everyone else every step of the way yesterday, and I hope I’m making you proud.

Happy Birthday Mush.

You’re loved and missed every single day.

If you’d like to read more of our story, the link is here and if you’d like to donate, the link is still live in my bio.

Again, thank you to everyone, your support means the absolute world.

“In Memory 214” challenge was created after losing my Dad to Prostate Cancer in February 2025.

Dad loved the outdoors, mostly out in the Peak District, but since I moved to the Lakes, we wanted to climb the Wainwrights. We started, but only managed to climb Latrigg together, before the cancer took hold of his spine and paralysed him from the waist down.

So now, I have made it my mission, to climb every top for him. Every step, every mile, every route, is to honour him.

I know it’s a big challenge, and since moving back to Nottinghamshire, it’s now an even bigger challenge as I only have weekends, and it’s a four hour journey to get to the Lakes, but I will complete every single one and finish on Latrigg on his birthday.

If you’ve been affected by cancer, prostate cancer or know anyone going through it, then this is also for them.

I started sharing the journey, and raising awareness over on @spinaldestination and then with everything happening in life, it’s taken a back seat and haven’t posted anything, therefore nobody really knows what’s going on. However, I am going to change that, and will be posting my journey since last year.

I have worked my way through them and currently have 11 routes left.

Thank you so much for everyone that has liked, shared and donated so far, your support means the world.

And if you’d like to share, like, repost, I would really appreciate it and if you’d like to and are able to donate, the link is in my bio.

214 Wainwrights.
365 days.
1 purpose.

For those of you that know me personally, or have followed me for a while, you’ll already know about the challenge I started in October 2025 and the Instagram page @spinaldestination to raise awareness and funds for @prostatecanceruk .

Unfortunately, it took a back seat when my relationship broke down, and although I didn’t post, or raise awareness, I still drove four hours to the Lake District every weekend to complete my routes to ensure I can finish on 4th October, and am still doing this now, 6 months on.

I’m currently on 111 Wainwrights and have a plan to complete all 214 by the timeframe I have set myself.

Thank you so much to everyone that has already shared, already liked and already donated.

If you or anyone you know has been affected by Prostate Cancer this is for you and for them.

And if you would like to donate, the link is in my bio, and if you’re unable to, a like, share or repost would make my day and I would really appreciate it. If my story can help save just one man’s life, then I’ve done the main things I set out to do.

Follow along for the next routes at the weekend.

I’ll forever be grateful for this moment.

Dad was poorly, but he still got into the lake and went wild swimming.

Not because it was easy… but because he still wanted to live, be optimistic and try something new. He always told me I was “crazy” going into the water, but he followed in my footsteps and actually loved it.

He was so proud of himself that day… as we all were of him.

Grief often makes me focus on the loss, but sometimes I remember moments like this and realise something else too:

He didn’t stop living just because he was ill, and I think that’s something he would want for me as well. To keep living!

From the day I was born, until the day you took your last breath.

The amount of days I got with you weren’t enough, and I wish I could have just one more with you.

You were the light of all of our lives and we all miss you every day.

Until we meet again, to carry on our days together.

I love you

Most people don’t know this.

Prostate cancer often develops silently, with no obvious symptoms in the early stages.

That’s why so many men are diagnosed later, when the cancer has already spread.

Sometimes it spreads to the bones and spine, which can lead to Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression (MSCC) — a medical emergency that can cause nerve damage or paralysis if not treated quickly.

My dad didn’t know he had prostate cancer until it had already spread.

That’s why I’m raising awareness, because knowing your risk matters.

If this post helps one person start a conversation, ask for a PSA test, or learn something they didn’t know before, it’s worth sharing.

This year (and the end of last year) is about more than distance.

My Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Like so many families, we didn’t realise how serious it could become.

Prostate cancer is now the most common cancer in men in the UK, and many men have no early symptoms.

“In Memory 214” is my way of turning grief into movement.

214 Wainwrights.
One year.
From his birthday (4th Oct 2025) to his birthday (4th Oct 2026).

Every peak is raising awareness about risk.
About earlier conversations.
About not waiting for symptoms.

If you’ve supported already - thank you so much.
If you’d like to donate, the link is in my bio.
If you can’t, sharing this helps more than you know.

Let’s keep the conversation going.

Would you know if you were at risk of prostate cancer — honestly?

All men can develop prostate cancer.
But some men are at higher risk than others.

It’s not just about noticing symptoms.
It’s about understanding risk — because risk awareness leads to earlier conversations, and earlier detection.

Ask yourself:

• Are you over 50?
• Are you a Black man?
• Do you have a family history of prostate cancer?

If you answered yes to any of these, your risk may be higher.

Many men have no early symptoms.
Knowing you could be at risk is often the first step.

These aren’t things we always talk about.
But awareness starts before diagnosis.

Knowing your risk means knowing when to ask questions.

Start the conversation.
Share this with someone who should see it.

My dad means the world to me and so does this journey.

Prostate Cancer is now the most common cancer in men and sometimes has no symptoms, meaning being diagnosed too late.

Walking all 214 Wainwrights is about honouring my wonderful dad and hiking the steps he is no longer able to take. It’s also about raising funds and awareness for @prostatecanceruk so more research can be done, and more men have a better chance of survival.

“IN MEMORY 214” - currently 30 Wainwrights down, meaning 184 to go. ⛰️

If you’ve been affected by prostate cancer or know someone that has and would like to be a part of the journey with us, get in touch or head over to @spinaldestination for regular awareness and updates.

Our fundraising link is in my bio, if you’d like to get involved in a different way.

Thank you to everyone for your support so far, it means the world.
