We are so thrilled to have our artists represented in the "Outside Forces" show at @artenables in Washington DC. In its 20th year, this exhibition represents work from artists outside of traditional art world representation from all around the country.

We’re still digesting this magical night. Thank you to everyone who came out to Norway and joined us last Saturday!

Thank you @ladylambjams and @gregjamie for the unforgettable performances. To Danny Couch and the other @spindleworksgardiner artists, @dyerrhoads and @mattdemers_again for bringing the raw space to life with your art. To @ecologybasedeconomy and @mainesolar for helping solve our power dilemma. Thank you to @sammy.weidenthal and Alan Bean for making it look and sound amazing. Thank you to @space538 for helping us make this happen, and every volunteer who gave their time, sweat, and energy to this project. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Collaboration is the theme of the day: working together to find solutions! One of the best part of working in a shared space is how our minds work in different ways to resolve problems. Our differences help us come at the issues from multiple angles, together we are stronger.

Join us for an evening of film celebrating the creativity, history, and voices of the Spindleworks Arts Center community. ✨✨

Thursday, July 23, 2026 | 4:30 to 6:00pm | Beam Classroom, Visual Arts Center

The program will feature a montage of footage spanning five decades; documentation of community events and performances; collaborations with The Theater Project; artist-created short films; and other highlights from the Spindleworks archives. Together, these films offer a unique glimpse into the artistic spirit, relationships, and creative legacy that have defined Spindleworks for fifty years.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition "Celebrating Independence! Fifty Years of Spindleworks, 1976–2026," on view now at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art through August 16.

Walk with us through warm summer fields.
Crickets sing as we shadow hop
tree to tree to keep cool.
We found the willow tunnel, the circle of pines,
the milkweed: butterfly pompoms
