Rope flow is where Spiral Combat began for me. Rope flow helped shape the way I pay attention to turning, redirection and connection. That curiosity became part of the foundation for Spiral Combat. Love seeing you explore it too, @stylebender. With your feel for movement, I think you'll pick it up fast. Stylebender today. Ropebender next. Master of all movements loading... Enjoy the journey, Izzy. Keep exploring. Izzy's footage: @stylebender. These are separate training sessions. by @spiralcombat
Strike counts tell only part of the story. Foot position, balance, rhythm and pressure help explain what those numbers leave out. Stats are useful. They just need context. What do you look for first when watching an exchange? Fight visuals are AI-generated illustrations. #MMA #MartialArts #FightIQ by @spiralcombat
A target can move while you are deciding to attack. The distance that looked right a moment ago may already be gone. In fencing, watch the gap through the advance, retreat and lunge. Reaching harder is a poor substitute for noticing where the other person has moved. For a simple footwork study, put the weapons aside and mirror a partner at a slow pace: one advances, the other retreats. Keep your stance comfortable and notice when the distance begins to change. Bring the blades back only within your normal coached practice. Save this for your next fencing session. AI-created illustrations of fictional fencers; no real bout is depicted. by @spiralcombat
An angle changes the target. A rhythm change changes when it is available. A coaching lens on the angle-stepping rhythm breaker. What changes when you step off the line instead of trading straight through it? The war goddess is terrifying because her violence is not sloppy, it is exact. People confuse divine war energy with rage, but rage spills everywhere. Comment ARCHETYPE if you want the deeper Spiral Combat breakdown. #SpiralCombat #FightIQ #MMA #FighterArchetypes #CombatFlow by @spiralcombat
Five Ways Archetype Changes Your Game Plan in 60 Seconds Knowing the archetype is useless unless it changes what you actually do. So here are the five decisions it changes, in sixty seconds. Everything is inside at SpiralCombat.com/archetype. #SpiralCombat #MartialArts by @spiralcombat
A fight is full of information beyond strikes and takedowns. Think about the small steps, shifts in weight, rhythm changes and reactions that happen in every exchange. The more of those patterns we learn to see, the more specific our training can become. Technology can help us study the game, but it can't replace a fighter's heart, creativity or experience. What's one pattern you've noticed in your own training? Fight visuals are AI-generated illustrations. #MMA #MartialArts #FightIQ by @spiralcombat
Train the transition, not only the positions on either side of it. Where does your base, attention or exit change when striking becomes wrestling? That is a useful place to slow the drill down and read the next decision. AI-generated illustrative imagery and motion graphics accompany my original recording. #SpiralCombat #MMA #Transitions by @spiralcombat
An angle is not just footwork, it is a way of escaping the monster's story. In the myth of the labyrinth, the danger is not only the monster, it is the maze.
