Behind our all-new ships are some wonderful Tasmanian stories. And we’re excited to share them with you 🚢

Introducing Meet the Makers, our new series showcasing the Tasmanian suppliers, contractors and craftspeople helping bring our new ships and Devonport terminal to life.

First up is @hydrowood, the local business giving submerged timber a new life. Discover how their timber brings warmth, character and a piece of Tasmania’s story to our onboard spaces.

Next up in our crew showcase is Anthony, who has spent 24 years onboard as a Cook! 🍽

For Anthony, it’s the people and friendships that have made the journey so memorable - along with one particular sailing!

“One memory that really stands out was the Ship Box Rally, when the entire ship was booked for the event finishing in Hobart. The whole crew and passengers got into the spirit of the night, dressing up as pirates, cartoon and TV characters — we even had Batman, who happened to be the charity’s general mechanic!” 🦇

A night to remember, and a lovely example of the fun and camaraderie shared onboard.

“As we move on to the next chapter and new ships, I’ll always look back fondly on the people, friendships and memories that have made the last 24 years so worthwhile.”

Thank you, Anthony! Here’s to more friendships, laughs and memories in the next chapter. 💛

Next up in our crew showcase is Georgia, who has been part of our Spirit of Tasmania team for 23 years.

🚢 Favourite memories:

"A major highlight of my time here, was sailing Spirit IV back from Gibraltar to Fremantle. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and something I’ll never forget.

Another moment that really stands out was seeing how many Tasmanians turned up early in the morning to watch Spirit IV sail into Devonport. It was incredible to see the excitement and pride from the community as they welcomed the new vessel home."

😁 What are you excited about for the new ships?

"I can sense the excitement already and I’m really looking forward to being part of this new generation".

Thank you, Georgia!

Discover five distinct stalls, from fresh seafood at The Crossing and world flavours at Spice Traders to slow-cooked meats at Highland Smokehouse, comforting classics at Family Table and indulgent desserts at Farm Gate Sweets.

We're tipping the beef ribs, vegetable curry and half roast chicken as the new favourites.

Whether it's a taste of Tasmania before you've even arrived or a taste of home wherever you're headed, be among the first to experience the all-new Tasmanian Market Kitchen.

Tasmania is calling – and getting there just got a whole lot more interesting.

For Canberra travellers, there’s a little more road trip involved before you reach the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in Geelong, but the new ships might make the journey part of the adventure.

Spirit of Tasmania IV and V are set to begin passenger sailings from Geelong to Devonport on 31 October, with more space, 301 cabins, new pet-friendly and family cabins, business recliners, increased vehicle capacity and a seriously impressive lineup of Tasmanian food and drink onboard.

And yes – you can bring the car, so once you hit Tasmania, you’re ready to explore at your own pace.

We took a look around the new ships to see what’s changed.

Meet Jess, who has been part of the team for 15 years.

🚢 Growing up in Devonport, Jessica remembers watching the big red ships come and go each day. So, joining the crew at Spirit of Tasmania, is something she is incredibly proud of.

"The best part about working on the ships has been the people you meet. From passengers to the crew you work and live with, everyone quickly becomes like family."

One of Jessica’s favourite memories was taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave, alongside fellow crew members and the Captain, raising money for the Cancer Council during a day sailing.

😀 Now, she’s looking forward to the next chapter.

"With updated facilities and brand-new working areas on the new ships, we’re all excited to start onboard and show them off. They’re something we can be very proud of."

Thank you, Jessica, for 15 years of memories.
