As Obsession fever takes over again (hello Kriti Sanon as Freaky Nikki!), we’re bringing back this vintage, angel-number bearing, handcrafted, wooden matchbox collectible into the collective consciousness. It’s for those who believe in manifesting love, light and abundance into being—by simply... well... wishing for it. As always, be careful what (who?) you wish for—and DM us for the link. You may get just one wish (no guarantee), but you can add as many as you like to your wishlist🤞🏼 by @splainerin

We asked Arunima Joshua, journalist and Mumbai shopping expert, to cut through the clutter and compile this no-nonsense shopping guide to Mumbai, with a special focus on counter culture and indie finds. After all, no place does hustle with a side of cool better than the maximum city.

Inner beauty is what counts, but if clothes maketh a man, then the package maketh a fitting present. And so we’ve put together 3 gift boxes we’d bag just for the way they are bagged—a ‘case’ study, if you will.

“Don’t arrive empty-handed at the party!”

We’re not just about being the perfect hosts this Diwali. We’re also here to help you be the favourite guest—by bringing the best, most memorable keepsake for the hostess (or host). While the others bring mithai, you bring the bomb-est of gifts that’ll keep them talking. And what’s more, each patakha item in this list is under Rs 900, barely the price of a box of premium sweets. Here are our five picks:

A stunning, translucent oil lamp made with hand-blown glass—available in amber (pictured here), aqua blue, rose pink and frosted white bases ✨

A marigold masala chai mix that comes in a marigold-themed tin tin that's as festive as the flavour inside 🫖

A soy and beeswax fragrance bar redolent of signature Indian scents—mogra and jasmine / an auspicious way to cleanse and purify any space 💮

A surprise mix of savoury South Indian flavours packed into these handcrafted palm-leaf-woven boxes that remind us of chakris 🪅

Finally, our festive favourite—a sutli-bomb-themed tealight holder shaped out of sturdy wire-mesh / fantastic conversation starter and centrepiece 🧨

As usual, slide into our DMs for shopping links or just bookmark it for the next time you need a hostess to love you the mostest 🫶🏼 by @splainerin

We're loving how every pick in writer and culture curator Aastha's 'favourite things from Souk' is a slice of nostalgia—an heirloom toolbox that feels like a treasure chest from childhood; tangy, salty caperberries that remind one of pickled pantry staples; and a handbook of grandmum's home remedies. It's as if slow living were a shopping list. Can't wait to hear what her playlist sounds like. Did we get it right, Aastha? by @splainerin
