For, um... reasons, Puja is a thing in my life now. Last year on Mohaloya, I attempted to make an idol. (I had grand ideas of buying more clay every year to make a bigger and bigger idol each year. I never learnt how to handle clay and it got scrapped.) This year I forgot about Mohaloya altogether so no idol. This is last year's mouse-looking lion and mahisasur in bull form. by @splashesofink

Finally... book. I missed out on Tulika books' end of year sale and hunted this down at the bookfair this Friday. (Also accidentally gave an interview to India Today but I don't want to talk about it.) by @splashesofink

IIT G Stories B: Graffiti

Whilst getting some printouts, I noticed that apart from the pens and notebooks, the display windows were primarily filled with cans of spray paint. As a student from DU I've seen tags but I've also seen them covered up within a few weeks. Curious, I asked how common is spray tagging? Is it used for rebellion, art, expression?

Unlike where I am from, spray painting in IIT G is a pretty accepted form of communication and artistic expression. The first three photos are from behind the food court. Pretty tags.

The two that follow are a dedicated wall for tags. (Facilitation. We like that.)

And the last two were murals around Lohit. The canteen that stays up all night in IIT G.

It was fun to see the artistic side of a top tier educational centre. taken in IIT Guwahati by @splashesofink

IIT G stories (A): Murder watching by a murder

Crows are known for investigating deaths. Corvids have huge brains and amazing analytical skills. They're well known for putting two and two together and having complex familial societies. Ravens are monogamous and some mate for life.

Unfortunately, a crow perished under the wheels of a car in IIT. (I didn't photograph it out of respect for the deceased.) The poles around the scene were taken over by crows. Observing and learning from the death of their friend. (Japanese crows use cars to open nuts. Don't underestimate a crow.) I was surprised to see the phenomenon of investigation in real life.

When I lifted my phone up to capture the scene, some crows flew away. Here are some strong-willed detectives. Learning to ensure the safety of their murder. by @splashesofink
