2000' of climbing in 14 hours (car to car) w/ @labrinsky

Ran out of water half way up the climb in 80° weather.

Became delirious but continued up, had no choice.

Got lost on the rapp down and redirected by rappeling a couple questionable trees.

Demolished our bodies.

Made some new friends and lost none.

Overall, successful experience.

10/10 would suffer again.

Randy Powers (Left) E.C. Joe (Right) In the late 1970s and through the 1980s, E.C., Randy, and many others were a staple within the climbing community in the Southern Sierras. Establishing multiple routes along the Kern River. Gear was limited to none, walls were untouched, and the mindset behind it was frowned upon. This never slowed the climbers' passion to push countless outings that risked their lives with every adventure. They'd hike countless miles into the forest to climb rock formations that were never before even considered possible by humankind. Adventures that would jeopardize their life, which never crossed their mind. All of this paved the way for future climbers alike with one goal. Climb! It's humbling to hear them speak on what true love, passion, hard work, and perseverance allowed them to achieve through a common interest. Individuals unfamiliar with their interest would talk poorly of their lifestyle. Which in time would pioneer the future. They were told it was dangerous, wreckless, and just flat-out stupid. But through it all, they built a community. A community that grew from the roots of Bakersfield, CA. It was an honor to remenese about my hometown and the challenges it brought years before my time. Let no one deter your passion and the potential you will reach. Strive every day towards what makes you happy. In return, you'll be rewarded with no regret. Keep on trekking.
