🐾 fated mates
🍂 touch her and d*e

As a dedicated vampire and team Edward girl, I didn’t wanna read this book at all. This whole fated mates thing felt always really cringe and unnatural to me.
But I thought if someone can make me like it, then it’s Laurie and I wasn’t wrong at all :)))
The story of Ruby and Rafe unfolded so beautifully, the slow burn was amazing and the autumn vibes are at another level.
I can’t wait for book 2 now 😍
-
𖦹 - Ruby lives on the edge of the woods, in a cottage more akin to a fairy tale than modern-day life. Her love life is practically non-existent and she keeps away from the whispered gossip that travels through Maple Hollow. Until a chance encounter with Rafe. As mysterious as he is brooding, Ruby is drawn to the woodsman, curious to find out about the stranger who lives deep within the forest. But he is hiding a secret. And with something lurking in the shadowy forest, will Ruby find that Rafe is her knight in shining armor, or something altogether more dangerous…

Bought two books with the same title on the same day and only noticed it now 🤓
Anyways, I can’t wait to read them!

Blurb Hollow 1 (lol, the green one): After an autism diagnosis, Cassie moves back to her hometown. On a backpacking trip, Cassie wakes to an abandoned campsite and discovers an off-the-grid compound. Here she finds an enigmatic boy named Kaleb who makes Cassie feel as if she truly belongs. But at what price?

Blurb Hollow 2: Mia isn’t even tweny-five yet but she’s starting to wonder if her peak has already passed. As a kid, she experienced a strange sort of fame within the paranormal community thanks to her inclusion in a book that revealed her ability to talk with the dead. But growing up, her gift dried up and she’s not special anymore. Until she dies in a tragic car crash and reawakens as a vampire…

˚.⋆ Book haul ⋆.˚
Found some really promising books today, such an aesthetic haul too ✨

📖 Fahrenheit 451 - I’d love to read fun books only but unfortunately, the world is burning and we have to stay educated. Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel about the burning of books because they’re outlawed. Published 1953 it’s more important than ever.

📖 Slasher Summer - finally got my hands on this one! I already startdd it and the summer slasher vibes are absolutely amazing.

📖 How to Kill a Guy in Ten Dates - a slasher romcom! Do I have to say more?!

📖 Vampire - a 100 pages non-fiction book about the history and myths of vampires.

⚖️ badass final girl revenge
🩸 road trip
🤡 folk horror
-
Clown in a Cornfield is one of my favourite slasher series ever and this book was so different and so refreshing compared to other slashers.
Following final girl Quinn on a bloody revenge road trip and seeing the horrors in ‘New Kettle Springs’ unfold literally glued my kindle to my hands. Huge bonus point for how graphic and gory the slashings were 🩸
Book 4 coming in August and I can’t wait!
-
Blurb - Quinn has just survived yet another bloody run-in with the murderous clown Frendo, but somehow still she knows this won’t be the last. Tired of being hunted and seeing innocent people hurt, Quinn believes the only way to beat the horror is to take justice into her own hands and stop the Frendo followers herself. Little does she know that this path will take her across cornfields and state lines, to where she will have to face the most dangerous and bloody menace yet: true believers.

“When looking forward, the man had returned. He stood at the hitch of this trunk, his hooded face finally scrutinising the unwanted vehicle on his property. Amelia spun the wheel. His lumbering, fixed position sent a shudder through her body.”

🩸 isolated cabin in the woods
🔪 masked whodunnit slasher
🧠 LOTS of gore
-
I was one of the lucky ones that got to arc read Blood on the Cottage Floor and I was NOT disappointed.
We have an isolated cabin in the woods, a family full of secrets, a masked slasher, an insane amount of gore and a bad ass final girl - what else could you possibly want.
It kind of felt like I Know What You Did Last Summer ft. Michael Myers, in the best way possible.
Coming out on the 31st July, I highly recommend adding it to your tbr and come face to face with the Elm Ridge Slayer🩸
-
Blurb - The annual cottage getaway to Elm Ridge Falls should have been bliss for Amelia and her sisters. Instead, a looming threat stalks the secluded forest. Trapping them in the confines of the once tranquil vacation home. When a family member goes missing, Amelia is left to fight for her sister’s survival. One-by-one they start to fall victim to the remote wilderness. Snatched up like prey by a cunning killer. Angry and alone, Amelia seeks out her abducted family, hellbent on vengeance. The concealed killer leads her in a dangerous game of cat and mouse. Uncovering secrets that were never meant to see the light of day.

After work essentials 💜

I finally landed my dream job and started working as a bookseller in my local independent bookstore! 🥹
Only had my second day today but I’m already so much happier than I’ve ever been in the jobs I did before.
Books truly are my passion and I feel so lucky being able to embrace this now 🖤

Oh and you have NO idea how excited I am for autumn and Christmas season in the bookstore 🤭

It’s definitely never too late to pursue your dreams. If you’re looking for a sign - this is it 💭

For the Leading Ladies and the Final Girls: are you ready to meet the Serendipity Slasher aka Heart Eyes?
-
🩸 slasher romcom
🔪 lots of gore
💌 love letter to slasher and romcom lovers
-
This book is a true love letter to every slasher and romcom fan and easily one of the best books I read this year!
It’s extremely funny, so so gorey and the references to 80s slashers and romcoms are absolutely amazing.
At no point did I know how the story would develop and that honestly speaks for itself.
Plus: a masked slasher with a pink heart eyes mask 😮‍💨
Big big recommendation 💘
(Where do I find the heart eyes mask please???)
-
Blurb - When Jamie’s best friend drags her to a speed-dating event, she expects mediocre men and an opportunity to eat her feelings later.
What she doesn’t expect is a blackout and for her date to be gruesomely killed at their table.
Like every slasher movie she’s ever watched and studied, Jamie knows the rules of making it out alive are simple. But that’s easier said than done when she finds herself caught in a love triangle with two dangerously attractive strangers. But who’s playing for her heart and who’s playing to kill?

“It was astounding how much blood the human body held. How much it could fountain out of a teenage boy’s neck, where someone had sliced away a wedge of flesh like it was an apple pie.”

🩸 80s slasher vibes
🔪 lots of gore
🖤 masked slasher in the woods (+ a lake!)
-
Must read summer slasher!
I literally inhaled this book because I couldn’t stop reading and it gave me the best slasher vibes possible. There are lots of 1980s slasher references which made it so much fun to read. Amazing twists, gory kills and fights (probably my favourite ones, they were truly gory, I’m just gonna say charcuterie board) and tight paced in the best way possible.
Loved every part of this 🖤
-
Blurb - Seven old friends reunite in the sleepy town of Cedar Lake at the remote cabin where the cult B movie Slasher was filmed. Things have changed since High School, and they’re looking forward to a weekend to catch up. But when night falls, a masked figure is spotted in the woods, and the reunion takes a deadly turn. Is someone trying to make their Slasher experience as authentic as possible?
