Within 48 hours last June, the NCAA passed two rules that quietly rewired how four-year coaches recruit junior college players. Most JUCO guys still don't know what changed, or that it moved in their favor. 👇 🧵

June 23 — the "5-for-5" model. Five years of eligibility, counted from your first full-time college enrollment or the academic year after you turn 19, whichever comes first. Redshirts and medical hardship waivers are gone.

Run that math. Two JUCO seasons burn two of five, leaving THREE at the four-year school. Under the old four-seasons-in-five model, two JUCO years left you two. You gained a year.

🔁 From the coach's side of the desk, a JUCO signee went from a two-year rental to a three-year player. Same evaluation, same proven production, one more season of return.

June 24 — transfer equity. Two-year transfers are now judged under the same framework as four-year transfers. The 2.5 GPA requirement, the mandatory credit totals, the "graduate from your JUCO first" rule — gone. The NJCAA called it a landmark victory.

Now the part nobody separates out: "JUCO" isn't one thing. California community colleges play under the CCCAA — no athletic scholarships at all, and by rule they cannot recruit outside California. NJCAA schools can offer full rides and recruit nationally.

So an NJCAA roster can be assembled from anywhere, with money. A California roster is built almost entirely from local kids who chose to be there. That's why a California line reads as a cleaner signal to a four-year coach.

The flip side: no scholarship money, no national machine finding you. Which is exactly why your outreach matters more in California than anywhere else.

— 📊 NCAA DI adopted the age-based eligibility model June 23, 2026 and two-year transfer equity June 24, 2026; DII followed in August. CCCAA rules per 3C2A bylaws 2.3.2, 2.4.3, 2.5.1 and 2.11.2.

🚨 THE COLLEGE BASEBALL RECRUITING CALENDAR HAS CHANGED. ⚾

The October 12 changes impact how D1, D2, and D3 coaches recruit. Do you know what it means for YOUR recruiting journey?

🔴 D1: Quiet period through February 28, 2027.
⚾ D2: Recruiting generally continues outside designated dead periods.
🔵 D3: No NCAA-designated quiet or dead periods.

📈 Here’s what you should focus on this offseason:

✅ Attend the RIGHT camps, not money grabs.
✅ Visit campuses and build relationships with coaches.
✅ Get stronger, faster, and more skilled.
✅ Improve your academics and build better habits.

🎯 Your goal? Be a DIFFERENT player by March 1.

Don't spend the offseason waiting for recruiting opportunities. Put in the work, make smart decisions, and give college coaches a reason to notice you this spring.

🗓 The calendar sets the timeline. YOUR DEVELOPMENT sets you apart.

🚨 Parents, before you spend another dollar chasing a D1 offer, look at who your son would actually be competing against👇

As of 2024, the average Division I baseball player was 21.9 years old. In 2022, it was 20.1. That's nearly two years older in two seasons, and nothing since has pushed it back down.

That same year, freshmen barely cracked 15% of D1 innings. So even the ones who make a roster mostly aren't playing.

Which means when someone tells you your 5'10", 165-pound junior is "definitely D1," the honest question is: who does he have to beat out? A 22-year-old with three years in a college weight room and 500 college at-bats already behind him.

Here's the part almost nobody connects: the same transfer portal squeezing your son off a D1 roster at 18 is the thing that can walk him onto one at 20. It cuts both ways. D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO used to be where the D1 dream ended.

Now they're the on-ramp. Play 50+ games as a freshman, add 25 pounds, produce against real competition, and enter the portal as exactly the profile D1 coaches are now built to recruit.

Starting at the right level is the whole game.

Not sure where your son actually fits?

📩 DM us "UNCOMMITTED," and we'll give you a straight read on his level, not just the one you were hoping for.

Your ERA is the LEAST important number on your recruiting profile.

College coaches will tell you that to your face. 👇

They don't know your league, your competition, or who was keeping the book. A 1.80 ERA against weak lineups tells them nothing.

What tells them everything: verified velocity, your delivery, and what your arm looks like it'll become.

Because that's the real thing to understand; coaches are recruiting the arm you'll have at 20, not the one you have today.

The average pitcher adds 3–5 mph between freshman and senior year. Some add 8–10. Coaches have seen that curve a thousand times, and they're betting on where yours is headed. An 84 with a clean, repeatable delivery beats an 88 who's already maxed out.

Uncommitted pitcher? DM us "UNCOMMITTED," and we'll help you figure out your realistic level, clean up your film, and build a target list that fits your arm.

The fastest guy in the outfield is usually not the best outfielder. College coaches figured that out a long time ago. 🧵👇

They time your 60 to guess your range, then watch your film to find out they guessed wrong. What separates outfielders is the first three steps.
- Drift back and turn, you just lost eight feet.
- Open your hips and go; you caught it.
- A bad first step costs more ground than a fast 60 makes up.

And here's what most guys miss: outfield isn't one position; it's two. Center field is a defense-first job. Corner outfield is a bat-first job. Coaches recruit them off completely different checklists.

Good grades don't just keep you eligible. They open doors, and they pay. 📚💰

@caseydillbaseball breaks down the three ways your GPA impacts your recruiting:

✅ Coaches want low-maintenance guys "If I don't have to worry about a guy because he's getting good grades, that makes my life easier"

🎯 More schools become options
"The better the grades you get, the more schools you're gonna be eligible to attend"

💵 Academic money is real money
"That's not something that's handed out by the college baseball coach or even the athletic department. It's a set amount of money based on your grades"

The hard truth: a coach can want you all he wants, but if you can't get in academically, you're not getting in.

Your GPA is a recruiting tool. Treat it like one. 📈

🚨 Emailing College Coaches 🚨

"Hey, I throw 85 to 87" — then the video shows 79 to 81. 📉

@caseydillbaseball breaks down why player-sent emails get buried, and why having someone advocate for you is a completely different conversation:

📧 We take your target list and send the emails for you — coach contacts included

✅ "Emails are a lot more credible when they're coming from coaches or advisors or scouts"

⚠️ Coaches have been burned: claimed 3.5 GPA, transcript comes back below 2.0

🤝 "It's easier for a coach to talk to a coach... we speak a little bit more of the same language"

📣 Third-party verification means someone can back up what you're saying

This isn't a knock on players. It's just how the recruiting world actually works.

Save this and share it with a teammate still sending cold emails. 👇

The best athlete on almost every high school team plays shortstop. ⚾🧵

That's exactly why college coaches don't evaluate you the way you think. 👇

They're not asking whether you play short now. They're deciding whether you STAY there or slide to second, third, or the outfield at the next level. That decision gets made off your hands and your footwork long before anyone clocks your arm.

And here's the part most guys get wrong👇

Coaches aren't watching your diving stop. They're watching your 20th ground ball. Can you make the routine play the same way twice, on the move, with your feet working through the ball? That's the read.

Most catchers think recruiting comes down to pop time. ⏰ 🧵

Most college coaches will tell you it's the 4th thing they look at. 👇

Receiving comes first; you touch every pitch 120+ times a game. A catcher who steals strikes at the bottom of the zone changes a staff's ERA more than any arm on the roster. Then blocking. Then the bat. THEN the arm.

And with D1 rosters now capped at 34 players, most programs are carrying 2–3 catchers total. That's the whole depth chart. Nobody is going to find you; you have to get in the pile.

🛎 Uncommitted catcher? DM us "UNCOMMITTED," and we'll help you figure out your realistic level, clean up your film, and build a target list that fits.
