Kourtney Royโ€™s images feel like the beginning of a film whose script is constantly being rewritten. The situations are at once uncanny and comic, held in a tension that never fully resolves but simmers beneath the surface. ๐…๐š๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐œ๐š๐ซ๐๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐๐š๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข by ๐Š๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐ง๐ž๐ฒ ๐‘๐จ๐ฒ is on view at the Gallery ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ ๐’๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ๐ญ๐ก. Kourtney Royโ€™s practice is rooted in staging and artifice: carefully chosen locations, saturated colour palettes and deliberate compositions create uncanny worlds. Motels, deserts, suburban interiors, highways, and liminal spaces recur throughout her work, spaces where time seems elastic and reality disturbingly off-kilter. ๐Š๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐ง๐ž๐ฒ ๐‘๐จ๐ฒโ€™s exhibition ๐…๐š๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐œ๐š๐ซ๐๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐๐š๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข is on view at the Gallery ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ ๐’๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ๐ญ๐ก.
