Story time. About 30 years ago, I was staying at @pumpkin_smashed 's house for the summer. There, he played Siamese Dream ad nauseum, trying to convince me of its greatness. Instead, I got annoyed with it and grew to hate the sound, naturally.

But when I went back to college in the Fall, I couldn't get the sound--massive guitars, the gentle and intense, the chorus-filled nasaly vocals, the dramatic dynamics, and the guitar hooks--out of my head. One night, I heard the Today guitar-riff intro in my head non-stop and couldn't shake it. I stayed up all night, as it rang loud in my head. As I watched the sunrise from my dorm room, I decided that the only way to shake it was to hear it.

This was a time before Spotify. So, I walked to Tower records in Westwood just as it opened and spent my precious little cash on the CD. I promptly opened it, put it in my Sony Discman and skipped to Today. It was like a soothing medication my ears and insane mind.

I thought that'd be the end of it. Instead, I ended up listening to the entire CD, non-stop, for months. I tried to learn every song. Disarm and Today were easiest, Soma and Geek USA were the most difficult. What I didn't know at the time was that I was obsessively listening to what would become one of the greatest rock albums of all time, and I was also shaping my sound as a songwriter. I didn't even think of myself as a songwriter at the time, just a goofy guy who was learning guitar while going to college.

It's now the 30th anniversary of Siamese Dream's release. The album is an absolute masterpiece. It was Billy Corgan pushing himself to new artistic limits, the band on the verge of breakup, and it was produced by an up and coming producer, Butch Vig. Lightning in a frickin bottle.

I owe gratitude to not only them but also Mike, who's bedroom floor, in the end, was where my inspiration began. I encourage anyone reading this who hasn't listened to album to give it a full listen, start to finish, headphones on. It will stick with you. Trust me.

If heaven was a pedal store, it might look something like Le Pedale. All the greats and boutiques, all the latest stompy stomps!

Ornate embellishments that ordain the Palais Garnier in Paris where music and performance continues to be celebrated at the highest levels. Chagall painted the background for the main chandelier at 75 years of age, at no cost, as a gift to the city of Paris.

And that triple guitar thing is pretty sweet.

I call this beast "Supersonic Stoic". It is a Bilt Relevator with Effects and built by the fine builders at @biltguitars. They were wonderful to work with in spec'ing and designing it, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to get themselves a high quality custom axe.

One thing that makes this guitar special are the built-in effects: a JHS Kodiak Tremolo, an EQD Grand Orbiter Phaser, and a Chase Bliss Blooper. I chose these pedals because I wanted to be able to pick up the guitar and immediately get into a spacey, loopey meditation via the effects and their controls. Mad props to the geniuses at Bilt that were able to make this all happen given the limited real estate available on the guitar body.

I am still learning how to tame this thing and am hoping to share videos of it in action in the future 🎸

Pretty blown away by the Chase Bliss field guide for the Blooper pedal. In depth yet easy to understand manual complete with cheat cards and stickers. Amazingly done. Now I can't wait to get my Blooper pedal, hopefully arriving next week! 🙏🙏🙏

Absolutely phemonemal performance by Dal:um and Remidas at the K-music Festival 2022. The intricate and suberbly melodic sounds were beautiful, inspiring, and amazingly executed. Much props to @dal__um and @remidas_official for sharing their music, their stories, and a bit of Korean musical culture with us, and for signing Luna's CDs! 😀
