NAVKAR MANTRA AT VIRGINIA STATE SENATE 🇺🇸😍

Virginia Senate witnessed a historic moment as a Jain prayer (Navkar Mantra) was delivered during the official invocation by Dr. Sushil Jain, a respected leader of the Jain community.

During the proceedings, Virginia’s first Indian American Lieutenant Governor Ghazala Hashmi and Virginia State Senator Kannan Srinivasan recognized the Jain Society of Northern Virginia, the Jain Society of Central Virginia, and the Shri Digambar Jain Temple of Virginia in Chantilly, along with Jain community members present in the Senate Gallery to witness the occasion. The invocation came at a meaningful time for the community as Jains across the world observe the season of Mahavir Janma Kalyanak, celebrating the teachings of Lord Mahavira centered on non-violence, compassion, and truth.

The program was coordinated by Northern Virginia community leader Vaibhav Jain, whose efforts helped bring together Jain organizations and public officials for this historic recognition. The moment served as a reminder that representation matters and that the values of pluralism and mutual respect continue to strengthen Virginia’s civic life.

We created this video in January 2026 when German Chancellor Friedrich Merz was coming to India. At that time PM Modi discussed Ariha Shah case with him in Ahmedabad, and we had a lot of hope.

That is why we didn’t post this video immediately - we thought finally Ariha will come home.

But today, even after PM Modi & EAM Jaishankar raising it, and even after the world is calling it a humanitarian issue, we are getting only some small improvement in visitation rights. What we need is not improvement, we need REPATRIATION.

We need Ariha back in India. 🇮🇳

We can honour the beauty of nature without taking a piece of it home.

Peacock feathers hold deep cultural and spiritual significance, but good intentions don’t always tell us where a feather came from. When its origins are uncertain, choosing not to buy one is a way to ensure our appreciation for wildlife doesn’t contribute to its exploitation.

Our traditions can evolve with our compassion. We can preserve the symbolism, celebrate the beauty and find alternatives that don’t involve possessing parts of a wild animal.

The next time you see peacock feathers being sold, pause before you buy. Choose an alternative, share this with someone who might not know about the trade, and help make compassion a part of the traditions we pass on.

Because true reverence means protecting the lives we admire, not just celebrating their beauty.
