Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

It exists because this particular grief so often has no place to put itself. There may have been no funeral or photographs to hold onto. There may be people in your life who never knew there was someone to lose.

And so it gets carried quietly, year after year, by women who have learned that most rooms cannot hold it.

To remember openly. To grieve honestly. To love without apology.

That is the whole reason for a day like this one. Not to reopen anything, but to say plainly what is already true: these children are real, and they are still loved.

If that is you, we are holding you in our prayers today. And if you are walking beside someone carrying this, today is a good day to say her child's name out loud, or to simply sit with her without needing to fix anything.

It is the middle of the night, and your baby, who normally sleeps just fine, is wide awake again, gnawing on their fist and crying like something is really wrong.

You check to see if they feel warm, change a soaked outfit, and wonder what happened. Chances are, a new tooth is on its way.🦷✨️

Oral discomfort can accompany the arrival of a new tooth and can start as early as two months or wait until nine months.

Along with drooling and fussing, you might notice uncomfortable gums or a baby who suddenly wants to chew on everything within reach.🥴

Nights tend to be the hardest since there is nothing to distract from the discomfort.

A FEW THINGS THAT MIGHT HELP

🤚A clean finger, gently rubbed over sensitive gums. Simple, and often the first thing worth trying.

🧊A frozen, damp washcloth or a chilled teething ring, for something safe to gnaw on.

😴A calm bedtime routine. A warm feeding, a quiet room, and a little extra patience.

⭐️A few sprays of Baby Bear Teething Spray right onto the gums or on a clean finger to rub on the gums may lend some comfort.

Gum discomfort is common as new teeth arrive, and is a natural part of growing. Applying gentle finger pressure and a few mild herbs, can make the wait feel easier for you both.

She does not rush what God designed to unfold. She waits with you. 🤍

This National Midwifery Week, we're honoring the women who trust the process and stay until it's finished.

There is a particular kind of woman who chooses this work. She comes when called, at whatever hour the call comes. She knows the difference between a body that needs help and a body that needs time, and she trusts what she is watching.

That trust is not passivity. It is the hardest kind of attention there is: knowing enough to step in, and choosing not to unless it's needed. It takes years to learn, and a certain steadiness to carry.

"Bodies were designed for this. A good midwife simply believes it out loud."
