Some would say this summer was one of wun by @springmanthor
Junior season is over but i’m just getting started. Not much to say about the state meet itself but the season was definitely a good one making indoor and outdoor state in the 3200 dropping my Pr by 19 seconds and taking the school record by 16. Took the 1600 school record as well with a 4:37. Dropped my 800 Pr from 2:10 to 1:59 in one season coming for a state medal this fall. by @springmanthor
The second mile can be just as much of a mental battle as a physical one. Southwestern senior Thor Springman talks about the doubts that can creep in during the middle of a race, especially when you’re trying to stay with some of the best runners. For Thor, it’s about getting through that tough stretch, believing he belongs up front, and knowing he has the finish to compete with anyone. 🎙️ Full conversation with Thor Springman on Ándale Run! 🌶️ #AndaleRun #ThorSpringman #IllinoisXC #CrossCountry #HighSchoolRunning by @springmanthor
Thor Springman didn’t exactly get his start in running the way you might expect. Back in middle school, he was trying high jump and hurdles before getting a chance to run the mile. What started as an opportunity to compete eventually turned into something he genuinely loved. Now a senior at Southwestern, Thor is chasing All-State honors in Illinois 1A cross country. We talked about his journey, the challenges of running for a smaller school, handling expectations, and how running has helped him build friendships and discover something he’s passionate about. And apparently, he might also be the best cross-country pickleball player in Illinois. 😂 🎙️ Full conversation with Thor Springman on Ándale Run! #AndaleRun #ThorSpringman #IllinoisXC #CrossCountry #HighSchoolRunning by @springmanthor
