This week I’m encouraging you: Choose your One Step Closer person, write their name, or initial, down in a place where only you will see it every day.

Every time you see it, pray this: “Jesus, draw (their name) nearer to You today. Give me Your heart for them, help me represent You well, and open a natural door for me to encourage them. Amen"

That's it. Thirty seconds. Every day. One prayer. One name. One step.

God is going to move. He's going to open doors. He's going to give you opportunities. And He's going to use you, yes, you, to make His appeal to the person you've been praying for. Ask God this week what "one step closer" might look like for them. by @springscalgary

Jesus did not make strength unnecessary. He set it apart for God’s purposes.

He took strength that sin uses to control and turned it toward protection.

He took authority that pride uses for status and turned it toward service.

He took power that selfishness uses for advancement and poured it out in sacrifice.
God gives a man strength not merely so he can build a comfortable life, but so someone else can flourish because he entered the room.

Culture disciples a man to ask, “What do I want, and what makes me comfortable?”

Jesus teaches a man to ask, “What has God entrusted to me, and who needs my strength?” by @springscalgary

There is a huge difference between feeling stuck somewhere and knowing you are sent somewhere.
When you think you are stuck, every problem feels like a prison sentence. Difficult people become obstacles. You wake up with a victim mindset, complaining about the culture around you.

When you realize you are sent, everything shifts.

You may be waiting for God to change your location while God is waiting to use you in your location.

Stop putting obedience on hold until your circumstances become comfortable. The sending has already happened. The only question is are you living like an ambassador

There is nothing like the presence of God.

One invitation can make all the difference. This Sunday, invite a friend, family member, coworker, or neighbour to experience church with you. You never know how God might use a simple, “Come to church with me.”

We’ll see you tomorrow! taken in Calgary, Alberta by @springscalgary

Honouring the generation before you does not mean making their methods untouchable.

It means taking the fire they carried and speaking it clearly into the world right in front of you.

Think about what this looks like in your own home.

Do your kids know why you pray, or do they just see you close your eyes and assume you're stressed out?

Do they know how to forgive somebody who hurt them because they've watched you do the messy, painful work of extending grace at the kitchen table?

People don't fall in love with dry theological outlines. They fall in love with the living God when they hear real stories. If you’ve walked with Jesus for any length of time, you have stories of God providing when money was tight, or giving you peace in a hospital room when everything was shaking.

Do not take those stories to the grave. Tell them until the people in your life can tell them right back to you.

The more you trust God, the more you get into His Word, the more you allow Holy Spirit to lead you, the more you will see the miraculous work of God.

Do not keep that miraculous work to yourself. If you've seen it you must say it. by @springscalgary

What an amazing weekend!

Just over two years ago, we broke ground on a project that was incredibly dear to my dad’s heart. It was the last major project he was working on before he passed away. And while the plans grew and changed quite a bit after he was gone, a lot of that was because we wanted to build something beautiful that would honour him and the vision he had for Christian education.

This weekend, we officially opened the new Springs Christian Academy, directly connected to our church.

To see the building filled with students worshiping God was something I know many generations prayed for and envisioned. For us to finally see it with our own eyes on Friday was jaw-dropping and incredibly emotional.

Today was the church grand opening. You can dream big, but God always seems to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ask, think, or imagine, and He did it again with this building.

This building will be a lifeline, a place of outreach and discipleship, and a place that connects people to God for as long as it is standing.

Praise be to God, because we truly would have nothing without Him.

We’re living in answers to prayers we didn’t pray and drinking from wells we didn’t dig.

It’s easy to get comfortable, look around, and act like we built this ourselves. That’s entitlement.

Gratitude says: God gave me this, and someone else paid a price so I could stand here.

We aren’t here just to consume the blessing. Acts 13:36 says David served God’s purpose in his generation.

It’s our turn.

Honour what you were handed, stay humble before God, and start digging for the next generation.
