𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁?

Sprint Fest is a Singapore motorsports festival that debuted in 2023.

Since then, it has been held twice (2023 and 2024) at the picturesque Palawan Green on Sentosa Island, where Motorsports, Eats, and Beats converge to create an unforgettable experience.

The mission of Sprint Fest is to promote grassroots motorsports and reintroduce the sport to Singapore, with a strong emphasis on showcasing local talent. Both Sprint Fest 2023 and 2024 attracted large crowds of motorsports enthusiasts, petrolheads, and families. Attendees enjoyed adrenaline-pumping Auto Gymkhana races, thrilling joyrides, delicious food, and vibrant music, sparking excitement and fostering a passion for motorsports—especially among younger audiences.

In 2024, with fresh opportunities for collaboration, the team launched two new editions:

- Sprint Fest Pop-Up: A pop-up display at Plaza Singapura during the Singapore Grand Prix Weekend, featuring an exciting assortment of iconic Singapore race cars.

- Sprint Fest Urban: A pure racing event held at JTC Ayer Rajah, where petrolheads could showcase their driving skills during practice sessions and compete in the final round, which concluded with the crowning of the 2024 National Auto Gymkhana Champion.

In 2025, we are excited with the addition of:

- Sprint Fest Tryouts: A grassroot level event that aims at promoting motorsports via a practice session format with MSS Appointed Instructors to guide and assist new or non seasoned drivers.

With our ongoing commitment, Sprint Fest is a catalyst for a brighter future in motorsports, constantly expanding to bring motorsports to the masses and promote car culture. The event champions inclusivity, offering engaging opportunities for all ages and inspiring a new generation of fans and racers.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁?

Took the ZR, @nikonsg’s first cinema camera, to @sprintfestsg and it did not disappoint.

There are many things to love about the ZR, and its stabilisation doesn’t get talked about enough. The in-body Vibration Reduction (VR) held panning shots and even walking handheld (slide 6) steady enough that most of the footage you see isn’t stabilised in post at all. It can be hard to stabilise fast-moving objects in post, and the ZR nails it in camera.

N-Log with RED’s creative LUTs is a properly good combination. Midday sun at a racetrack is unforgiving, but the detail was still sitting there in the shadows and highlights when I went looking for it. Even with high ISO at night, recording at 4K120 (slide 7), there was still enough detail to expose the footage well without noise reduction. Colour straight out of camera is already great and the RED LUTs let you push it wherever you want.

Two more details I didn’t expect to be writing about. The screen is huge and bright enough that I could comfortably see what I was shooting under the Singapore sun, which doesn’t sound like much until you are squinting at a tiny dark screen. And NIKKOR glass on a cinema body is an absolute joy; the sharpness and contrast that we love are all still there, just doing something new.

Ten years shooting Nikon, and this is their first go at a cinema camera. I’m staggered!

Dark clouds loomed above and rain fell during the Sprintfest Tryouts at Changi Exhibition Centre on 25th July 2026. Despite the weather, the mood and spirits of everyone present weren’t dampened at all.

A mix of familiar and new faces rolled in with their rides, before being introduced to the course for the day. The spacious venue allowed the course to be a good mix of speed and features a long straight, a slalom section and some technical areas to navigate through.

As the drivers lined up to their lanes, they’re greeted with the new Traffic Light System. It instructs the drivers on which lanes are currently running the course and which are available for queuing. The system also helped ease the workload for the volunteers that had to stand at the end of the lanes to marshal the vehicles in the past.

This being the first time that the Tryouts had run into the night, several cars were rocking LED underglow to brighten up their runs, giving off an ‘underground’ vibe while illuminating the wet road as they sped through the course.

With such a strong turnout at this Tryout, may there be more chances this year to witness more great skills and to enjoy the warmth and joy of the community.

Last weekend marked our first night Tryouts and night session in 2 years. Also, our biggest turnout of new entrants and first-timers yet.

The rain gave it’s everything, but our drivers laid down the laps with the same focus and drive as always. That’s what Sprint Fest is about. 🏁
