It’s been a while since we last introduced ourselves, so we are due for a reintroduction! 🌱

Sprouts Arabic Montessori Nursery is a full-time Nursery in Butetown, Cardiff.

At Sprouts Arabic, our vision is to utilise the power of the Early Years to support children’s lifelong development and well-being. Our vision is for a setting that meets children’s emotional, physical, educational, spiritual and racial needs.

We aim to create a safe environment that nurtures and empowers children to have pride in their Islamic identity and to have their religious and cultural values reflected to them.

Our aim is to celebrate the diverse culture of modern Wales and help children develop a sense of cynefin (belonging). We place a high value on bilingualism & multilingualism, that explicitly includes languages from the Global South

🎓 We’re celebrating our little Sprouts Arabic graduates this Thursday! 🌱

Graduation is always such a special moment for us at Sprouts Arabic Montessori Nursery — a chance to celebrate how much our children have grown, learned and developed before they move on to their next adventure.

And this year, we’re opening the celebration up to the wider community too!
Join us Thursday 27th August from 12pm at Butetown Community Centre for an afternoon of:
🏰 Bouncy castle
👷‍♂️ Soft play
🍓 Snacks for the children
☕ Refreshments for parents
🌱 A chance to view our nursery and learn more about what we offer
🤝 And, most importantly, an opportunity to meet other like-minded parents, have a chat and actually relax for a little while whilst the children play!

If you’ve been curious about Sprouts Arabic, this is a lovely opportunity to come into our space, meet some of our team and families, see the nursery for yourself and get a feel for our community.

Or, if you simply fancy getting the kids out of the house for a few hours and meeting some other parents, come along. 💛

We’d love to see you there, in shaa Allah!

Alhamdulilah for another year at Sprouts Arabic Montessori Nursery 🫶🏽 by @sproutsarabic

Life lately at Sprouts 🌱 📸

We’re coming to the end of the first term of this academic year, and the end of 2025. A beautiful term of learning “all about me” for the children. Of noticing the changes in our environment. Of being mindful, moving slowly, feeling connected to our environment and the community around.

We’ve had some building works going on in our playground area. There’s still loads to do to bring our vision to life God willing 🌟

& we are doing a small refresh of our book corner & “calm down” room - watch this space (inshallah).

We’ve been enjoying autumn, the rain, the puddles & extra muddy mud kitchen. It’s been getting darker earlier, so we’ve also been able to see the different moon phases 🌙 which is a lovely prelude for Ramadan by @sproutsarabic

In honour of the children’s favourite book this week and last ("سنجوب والحليب المسكوب"/Squirrel and the spilt milk) - the word of the week is “pour” (as in the command - “pour”)

When I was first learning Arabic to teach children I would often listen to @journeywithinas ‘s story times online and practise reading the books with expression like my children’s beloved Ustadah Inas ❤️. I’d look up all the words I didn’t understand. This lovely children’s book taught me the word “pour”, and its other derivatives. It’s so fun to introduce this book to a whole new cohort of children. by @sproutsarabic

There will be soft play, arts and crafts, sensory play and plenty of tea and cake for the mums, as usual ☕️

Come along and unwind whilst the kids have fun 🤸🏽‍♀️ by @sproutsarabic

Our word of the week!

A really commonly used word in our Arabic immersion Montessori nursery is:
إمسح!

It’s a command, and we use it during tidy up time when wiping tables, when cleaning spills, when mopping, when cleaning windows 🧼

It’s a very useful Arabic word to have in your arsenal, and even adding this one word is a step closer to “living in Arabic”.
