Here it is; my @eatthebeatmelbourne competition entry from the back end of last year!

I had a lot of fun putting this mix together, as well as filming and editing it. It largely highlights the two main genres that I love to play - driving techno and tech-trance - and is sprinkled with just a touch of psytrance, progressive trance, acid and big room.

The full mix is available now on Youtube and Soundcloud:

As I have mentioned previously, I am super keen to put out more long-format content as the year progresses; keep an eye out for that here and @offtherecordaus.

Lastly, a big shout out to @thehenhousemelbourne for the awesome rehearsal space and backdrop! taken in Melbourne, Australia by @spyral_dj

Got a bias for bigroom? 🤨

It’s seems like @adrmusic_au does, if his recent conversation with @pinkque_official and @spyral_dj is anything to go by 🫣

Prefer trance or techno? You can catch all three at our IIT^2 event on the 8th of May @baddecisionsbar 👀

No cats were beat-matched in the making of this movie 🐈‍⬛.

Currently taking a short hiatus from my usual post-heavy schedule, and quietly cooking. Stay tuned 😼

This week i sat down with Melbourne-based DJ @spyral_dj open decks host, and the driving force behind @offtherecordaus

In this conversation, we dive into his journey—from his Your Shot experience through to building something bigger than himself: a space for community, connection, and opportunity through open decks and curated events

We talk about what it really takes to run events from the ground up—the highs, the chaos, and the constant need to come back to why you started in the first place. We also get into the realities of balancing it all… when the side hustle starts taking over and suddenly there’s less time to actually DJ and grow as an artist.

We touch on creativity beyond the decks too—his approach to social media, avoiding perfectionism, and why staying authentic always wins in the long run.

And to wrap it all up, we keep things fun with a little game: is it trance or techno? — perfectly timed ahead of his upcoming event this Friday.

No music, just honest conversations
