Philly Queer Grindcore Punk 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ The “Queercore Resident Supergroup” The Hirs Collective has released their latest album, Empty Urn. This is actually a collection of 15 rare tracks from various comps, B-sides, splits, out of print records, and more, but have all been remastered in a way that makes them sound like brand new - which they probably will be new to your ears, given this band has had over 50 different releases and most of them are hard to get your hands on. If you would love an unhinged mix of grindcore, hardcore punk, mathcore, powerviolence, and thrash metal - then you need to check them out ASAP #grindcore #hardcore #mathcore #powerviolence #hxc @hirs666 @getbetterrecords @srarecords @squareofopposition by @squareofopposition

john galm. i often scream those words in the streets of bethlehem in response to people honking car horns or when wingèd college youths are woo-ing at 3 am. john galm: two syllables that are more than enough to elicit immense feeling, similar to someone screaming fire! in a place one would hate to hear those words, john galm is the exact opposite on the spectrum, where measurements of love lie. those two words could open any mythically sealed door of elvish password or get a stone of ancient indifference to smile. now the moving pictures you see here are from the closing moments of the john galm “peace in the valley” vinyl record release show. national sokols in bethlehem, pa @nationalsokols was the place. square of opposition records the host. @squareofopposition a home-video collection projected for the show of old john galm childhood home movies, featuring his mother and father and family, replaying fragments on repeat much as memories are remembered by recurring moments, and not oft detailed drawn out scenes. and each piece faded into the next as memories do without borders or bounds. many in the audience had tears. i one of them. the song: drunk iii the beloved person: john galm. by @squareofopposition

Big ups to the homie @joeyangel on a lovely and successful Philly release show for Paddington Checks In. Thanks @r5productions crew for opening the doors to having it at such a beautiful and historic venue. Thanks @jaredknapik and @rustypigeon for joining. I just put my last SIX copies of Paddington in the online store at squareofopposition.com - once those are gone, you’ll have to go groveling to Handsome Josh for one of the handful I left with him in the city of brotherly love. taken in First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia by @squareofopposition

John Galm “Peace in the Valley” Record Release 9/25/26 @nationalsokols John Galm @johmgalm Sailcloth @sailclothsounds Kelly Hooper @_kellyeah John Galm is a rare and special songwriter. I’ve spent a number of very difficult and unusual times with one of his songs stuck in my head, keeping me company. I know for certain that I am not alone in this. The room full of lovely and talented folks who gathered to celebrate the release of the “Peace in the Valley,” are a testament to that. So much love to @sailclothsounds , @_kellyeah , and @chelseasmarr for increasing the joy and love tenfold. “Peace in the Valley” is a good thing to strive for. Listen close and you’ll probably find some. taken in National Sokols Bethlehem by @squareofopposition
