Busy in the studio today catching up on orders. If you’re waiting on something from me—fear not! It is coming!

Today and tomorrow are going to be LONG days packing orders, but hopefully, once I’m done, I’ll have a little free time to draw! 😅

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

It’s been a long week, for today’s post-work cooldown I thought I’d do a made-up theatre poster. I make a lot of theatre posters in my regular day-to-day work, but they’re rarely this spooky.

I’ve been really into collage lately. I think it’s a good direction for me to keep exploring. by @squarepopsicle

Faux-Criterion Poster Part II: The Sequal

This one was really hard. Drawing is… really hard. I struggled trying to come up with a movie where I wouldn’t have to draw an actor’s/character’s. I also wanted to pick a movie where there weren’t already a billion fake posters. I may have failed here. Still, I think this slaps. And The Silence of the Lambs is a great movie for an overcast September day.

I based this one on “L’Agneau Nouveau-Ne” (1873) by French painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau. I really like using paintings or other historical references in my drawings. It’s nice when some other, much-better artist figured out a good composition. It makes my job way easier.
@criterioncollection I am available, if you’d ever like to hire me. Until this fake movie posters continues to be a good warm-up exercise (or in this case, a good post-work cool down exercise). by @squarepopsicle

Today’s warm-up project: a fake @criterioncollection poster for Nosferatu (1922). I didn’t like the new Nosferatu movie that came out last year, but I do like the old one…. I like most movies a spooky weirdo going on a boat. I relate to that energy. Also have you seen the original posters for Nosferatu? The painted ones? They rip! Go look them up.

It’s getting to be spooky season properly, so let me know what movies I should watch. I’m always hunting for good (or terrible) scary movies… the problem is I’ve seen a lot of them, so I really have to search now to find the gems. What’s your favorite scary movie? And should I do any more of these fake posters? This was a good warm-up exercise to get me thinking about composition and value, so I wouldn’t mind doing another. Let me know what I should draw next. by @squarepopsicle

Hey Writers! This incredible workshop is happening soon and you should sign up before all the stops are gone. I’ve met Curtis before and I can tell you, he knows his stuff. He’s an award-winning writer and playwright and he makes a lovely lentil curry. If you are looking to build up some creative muscles or if you have a story you want to develop this is the class for you.
The link is in Curt’s bio. Go. Go now. by @squarepopsicle

I got stuck on the subway going to work this morning so I drew a little robot waiting out the rain under a leaf. Truly inspirational. by @squarepopsicle

Some early concept designs for my little robots book project. I really liked this one, even if it was (perhaps) a bit too ominous for a kids book illustration. What do you thin: do kids like spooky stuff? I know I did, and I don’t think I was the only one… by @squarepopsicle

I think it’s because I’m getting older, but golly-gosh I want a motorcycle so bad. Like real bad…

I’ve seen a few @beachman bikes around my neighborhood recently (I think because their shop is just up the road) and I am smitten! They look like so much fun to ride.
Maybe after my next big project that can be my little treat to myself... we’ll see. by @squarepopsicle
