At some point, watching DJ sets has to turn into learning how to play one.

Six lessons, plenty of time behind the decks and your own recorded set at the end.

Never touched a CDJ before? That’s fine. We’ll start there.
Send us a message and book your first lesson.

Some people come in for a DJ lesson. Some come to record a set. Some disappear into the production studio for a few hours.

However you make music, there’s probably a space for you here. Come and say hello, have a look around, and see what Square Music Lab is all about. We’d love to have you.

Book a session or drop us a DM.

In an era caught up with virtual timelines, it's always timely to reconnect with our five senses and the basic elements that nourish our being.

This groovy techno mix reflects my state of mind lately: a blend of light and depth, hope and caution, renewal and repair.

'Fractious Timeline' is now up on SoundCloud.

Recorded last week at @squarestudiolab - deffo pop by for a chat with Leo if you're about in North London.

IDs
Trauma Bond - Gannein
Amphibia - Luigi Tozzi
Well Fee - Sama’ Abdulhadi ft. Walaa Sbait
Takkuuk* - Bicep, Silla
Swing My Ass - Vil
Pulse XI - Peverelist
Call To The Regiment - Benza

*Some trivia: Takuuk is one of the tracks in a project among Bicep and Indigenous artists/researchers focusing on climate change, Arctic Indigenous life, and the preservation of native traditions. I had a thousand emotions when I first listened to the album.

P.S. The nose twitches are from a cold that Lemsip wasn't helping. taken in London, United Kingdom by @squarestudiolab

Slide through some of these clips if you’re into some hypnotic bleep bloops with a heavy sprinkle of gurgly, wet soundscapes.

Saturday night in Wood Green — fifty minutes of techno, improvised live on a modular synth.

Square Studio Lab are building a proper community of DJs and producers: DJ lessons, practice sessions and production studios under one roof, and the SSL Series, a monthly party. It's a great space too. The bar is a red London bus.

I got tired of making music on my own at a computer. Nights like this are what brought me back: people in a room, and a set that only happens once.

Thank you @leonardocruzdj and everyone at @squarestudiolab for having me.

Booking enquiries welcome. by @squarestudiolab

One for the bag. Four tracks of deep, hypnotic Detroit techno, with plenty of groove and just the right amount of pressure for the dancefloor.

Another SSL Series in the books, and somehow they just keep getting better.

The yard full of music, friends, new faces and exactly the kind of afternoon we like at Square.

See you at the next one. 🖤

Closing our 1st Anniversary with the one and only @inigokennedy 🖤

Our headliner delivered a powerful set full of personality, taking over the final slot and bringing the celebration to a proper close.

A very special ending to a very special day at Square Studio Lab.

Your next favourite track is probably buried somewhere you haven’t looked yet.

This is one of the things we work on in our DJ Course: how to actually research music and build a library that makes sense for you.
