Henry Threadgill says "Music should go right through you, leave some of itself inside you, and take some of you with it when it leaves." James Blood Ulmer and Man Vs. August, 23, 2009. Lucky to have opened for Bob Weir, Paramount Theater, Seattle. I've always been fond of this silhouetted Weir checking our band out before his set. Weir's musical sphere will always been a huge force in the way I play and think about music: being kind, adventurous, and open-minded. I liked that he thought about McCoy Tyner's left hand when playing rhythm guitar, trying to support and yet subvert at the same time! Trip report: 7/1 - 7/3 Renton to Medical/Silver lakes (Spokane area). The heat made things more of a challenge this time. Leaving around 4am-430am each day was key! Hotels in Eburg and Othello so I could travel light. I like my route from the westside to the trail as it avoids as much traffic as possible through Fall City. Although the bathroom sinks work, water fountain at Hyak was definitely working. I always go through the Boylston tunnel, can't resist the adventure! The clearing of the loose rocks in all the canyons on the decent down to Beverly was a pleasant and welcome surprise. Met ALL the dogs in Beverly, I just dismounted and walked with them. No big deal. Othello always has the best Mexican food. Thankfully, the SW winds took me SW all the way up to my destination. Sorry, no trail use on the third day. The rolling, paved country roads feel so good for an all-road bike like mine! For me, this was challenging and rewarding as any proper adventure should be! #surlymidnightspecial #palousetocascadestrail #pnwlife

150 days/3000 miles of commuting in the books for this school year. I’ve heard both Rick Rubin and Barry Lopez both speak about the power of returning to the same place repeatedly- how, through habit and attention, subtle shifts in light, air, color, and sound begin to reveal themselves. The more often you return, the more these nuances expand. Over time, the beauty of a place and moment slowly unfolds itself to you. Bob❤️ sublime Bob, brilliant Bob, sat next to an old soul from NY who had seen Bob 300+ times. Billy Strings sat in on All Along the Watchtower. 🔥 Early Roman Kings was a highlight, Ding-dong-daddy! Anton Fig on drums was a bonus for me… Old soul and I figured Anton played drums on Brownsville Girl!
