Ali’s been working hard on the garden in the front. It’s a beautiful blend of flowers, herbs, tomatoes, peppers, and native pollinators. I’m grateful for the work they’ve put into it all allowing for this place to really flourish and become a home like neither of us have had. We’re finding comfort and stability in ways our transient existences haven’t afforded us until this point. Thank you for giving my life a fullness I never knew possible. It’s been a full four year journey for me at @autumnarchbeer and that now comes to a close as I move forward to my next adventure in beer. The platform I was given allowed me to execute what I wanted to see in ways I didn’t think possible previously. I got to have Squirt as my assistant while he was alive. I also got to meet the amazing people behind @brewsingbanterpodcast and @melanatedmashmakers who helped me hone in my confidence and learn how I can be a vessel to showcase others through the liquid I’m able to cultivate. I’m sad about the friends I’ve made and projects unfinished being “left behind”, but I also know that wherever I go those people will always be with me. I look forward to what is coming next and very soon updates will be made. Much love to everyone I’ve met over this time, I wouldn’t be the person I am if it wasn’t for you! Also notice I’m wearing the same shirt on my last day that I wore the day I made All the Love You Won’t Forget, which was our Flanders Red that won gold at GABF, the time I’ve spent here has come full circle. by @squeegee_lord

I really can’t state my excitement enough about this amber lager. I wanted to use grain from Rabbit Hill for quite a while, finally got my chance and they did not disappoint. The grist is composed entirely of their Chillum Pale English style malt and Light Munich. Added in some Crystal hops for bitterness and did a nice flavor and whirlpool addition of Kazbek to give it a twist and learn more about this Czech beauty. Fermented with Mexican Lager yeast this beer is a delicate vixen that invites with an herbal and bready aroma that makes me think of herbed toast. Crisp, and easy to drink with nuances of citrus peel, fresh baked loaves, strawberry tops, and summertime hangs with friends. I’ll stop here cause it’s too easy to speak poems of this nectar with the same ferocity chairman Kaga says potato. by @squeegee_lord

Letting go of your best friend is one of the hardest things you can do. I will forever be grateful for your presence in my life Squirt, for you gave me a meaning to life when I felt it didn’t have any. For now we have to part ways, but somewhere along the cosmos we will meet again. I’ll miss your ability to devour food, your distinct attitude, the zoomies and bunny hops you’d have first thing in the morning, your eager bark, the cat like sighs, looks of judgement, movie hot takes and most importantly your shablams off the single step into the living room so you can eat. I have been able to immortalize your spirit in a beer i created with my own hands, today I will be pouring one out for you Squirt aka lil drip aka butterscotch boss aka Micheal Myers aka mr.licks aka potato aka boofster aka baff machine aka Squirby aka Squirbalon. A cloud of melancholy has hung over me after I heard about the closure of Fordham & Old Dominion causing moments of a past I’ve since left behind flood in. I learned what it meant to have faith and passion for something I was doing at a time where love for myself or comfort in my own skin felt unattainable. Discovering a new creative outlet in a time where I was struggling to feel inspired allowed me to meet new people who would help me develop as the growing brewer I was. However, it was also a place that grossly under appreciated the people it had and at times bred an uncomfortable and predatory environment. I had found the closest thing to a monastery I was willing to enter, walking into the halls of scientific creation to allow generations of yeast to propagate, meanwhile creating the liquid bread that is used to bring a sense of joy to a community. It created a spiritual awaking in me that I didn’t think was possible and allowed me to open up to the idea of what faith was. My faith in my ability and capability to learn kept me going even though I hated the person I faced in the mirror. This place was the platform for me to have my first distributed recipe as well as allowed me to be part of a team that won a gold medal in Belgian Tripel at World Beer Cup. I met @eatingdelaware, and even though she didn’t hire me for the tasting room after an interview, became a friend and creative muse who challenged me at various stages in my career. I parted ways with FoDo after two and half years with hopes to make something of myself in the brewing world but instead found myself trying to destroy the connection to my humanity and fell deeper into a mental darkness that for years made death feel like the only inevitable end to the pain I was feeling inside. Ten years has gone by since I first walked that brewhouse platform on my training day moving to the brew team from packaging. That moment I became anointed a modern monk whose faith would be tested in life constantly but can find serenity in the enjoyment of those having a pint of something I poured myself into. It would only take a year to be baptized in a shower of yeast and beer. by @squeegee_lord

On Saturday July 29th, 2023 I married my best friend @dumbthiccwizard. I’m beyond grateful to have them in my life, and thank those who could attend our small ceremony. We had to keep it this way with trying to make it happen so quickly. Ali’s father and that side of the family moves to Bulgaria in a little over two weeks, so we wanted to make sure they could see our glorious union. To my friends who weren’t in attendance fret not because we plan on having a party to celebrate with everyone in October so keep your eyes peeled! by @squeegee_lord
