81 years ago today, August 06 1945, at 8:15am.

Visiting Japan had always been a dream, but I knew this trip would carry a heavier meaning. As an American, I couldn’t ignore the shadow my country left over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So when I planned my itinerary, I knew I had to go to the Peace Memorial, not as a tourist, but as someone who needed to witness, reflect, and pay my respects.

Standing there in person was overwhelming in a way no history book could capture. It made the past feel immediate, and the cost of war undeniable. Now, with nuclear tensions rising again, I think that experience is more important than ever. If you’re heading to Japan, I’d urge you to visit that memorial too. It brings home a truth we can’t afford to forget, we must always choose peace. ✌️ taken in Hiroshima Peace Memorial by @squidfindergeneral
