"The fireball sequence was the most challenging part of the shoot. Each flare remained lit for just 40 seconds, so within that window we had to ignite it, fly it, capture the shot, and go for retakes. 19-year-old Kerala-based artist Gokul Krishna’s (@thegokulkrishnaaa) “Neram” opens on a line drawn from the Bhagavad Gita: “soul is never born, nor does it die; it is unborn, eternal, ever-existing and primeval.” The video is structured across three chapters that move backwards through time, tracing the evolution of belief. Chapter one, “Bhaavikalam: A God Without Witnesses,” is set after humanity has disappeared, leaving a lone deity questioning whether he was ever divine, or simply made real through belief. Chapter two, “Varthamanakaalam: The Survivors and the Believers,” shows a group dressed as deities - including Ravana - going about ordinary life at a countryside shop, suggesting rituals have become habit more than faith. Chapter three, “Bhoothakaalam: The Chosen One,” goes back further to a group of tribal figures gathered by firelight, where one man is singled out by a trail of fire and dissolved in a flash of light while the others watch. It imagines belief before ritual took shape, and before doubt entered the picture. “Neram started with absolutely no grand plans, just us heading into the studio for a guitar recording,” Gokul said. “But the energy was infectious; the recording engineer ended up becoming our co-producer and taking the track all the way through mixing and mastering.” Written by Sabarinath K (@sabari__nath), the lyrics follow someone who vanishes without warning, moving from “you faded away not aware of the time going by” to “we shall reunite again on a new day.” Produced by Adarsh Narayan (@mixedbyrdash) and Suraj Nharakkunnath (@snyydemusic), with video direction by Arabind Sudhir (@arabind._), the track blends electronic production with choral arrangements. “Neram” is out on all streaming platforms. by @srknahts_
