WAR OF THE IMMORTALS — EPISODE V: ATHENA SEES THE COST

Athena did what the others would not.

She looked at everything.

Zeus was consuming worship.

Poseidon watched the sea abandon him.

Hades was losing the dead.

Ares had discovered that war could keep him alive.

Every god believed they were fighting a different crisis.

Athena saw the truth.

They were all feeding the same thing.

The dying world was not merely destroying Olympus.

Olympus was helping construct what would replace it.

Athena warned Zeus.

He refused to loosen his grip.

So the goddess of strategy stopped asking for permission.

Beneath Olympus, behind doors sealed since the first age of divine rebellion, she found something the gods had been too afraid to destroy.

A broken remnant of the weapon that once severed heaven itself.

The First Sickle.

And for the first time since the world began to die…

someone had a plan.

While Olympus starved, one god began to recover.

Not from worship.
Not from hope.
Not from mercy.

From war.

Ares walked through the ashes of a dying world and felt strength returning to his body.
Fear returned with him.
Terror returned with him.
And Eris showed him exactly where hatred still lived.

So Ares made a choice.

He turned the last survivors against one another.

And as their conflict spread, the god of war fed on it.

But on the battlefield, Ares discovered something worse:

the violence restoring him was also rising beyond him.

War was feeding something older than Olympus.

He saw it.

He understood it.

And he smiled anyway.

Hades had ruled death longer than mortals could remember.

Every life ended somewhere.

Every soul eventually came to him.

Until they stopped.

The gates remained open.
The rivers still flowed.
The records still counted the dead.

But the souls were missing.

Then one finally reached the Underworld—barely holding its form together.

And Hades discovered the truth.

The rivers of death were reversing.

The dead were being pulled away from his kingdom and into something outside the order of Olympus.

Something older.

Something changing.

Hades watched as the last souls abandoned his realm.

And for the first time, the god of the dead understood:

Death was no longer the end.

It had become fuel.

Zeus divided the remains of humanity as though the dying world still belonged to Olympus.

Poseidon refused.

Something beneath the water was changing.

Far below the ruins of the old world, Poseidon found structures older than Olympus. Chains made for powers his generation was supposed to have defeated.

And then the abyss showed him something impossible.

Kronos was no longer simply returning.

The Titans were leaving flesh behind.

The old age was becoming something new.

And for the first time, Poseidon understood:

Zeus was fighting for a throne that may soon mean nothing.

Zeus discovers that mortal worship still gives him strength.

So he does what frightened rulers have always done.

He takes control.

The remaining cities are divided among the gods. Humanity is no longer protected by Olympus.

Humanity belongs to Olympus.

But that night, Zeus discovers another truth.

He was never the highest thing in creation.
