¡Wepa! 🇵🇷

It’s been a little quiet over here, but we’ve been busy behind the scenes making Coquí a reality.

We’re officially in post-production and spending our days going through footage, refining the story, and bringing the film to life piece by piece.

These are a few moments from production that we’re excited to finally share. ❤️ thank you to @thececilialorenzo @astrid.guaran and Heber for taking all our BTS photos! 📸🫶

Thank you to everyone who’s supported, followed along, donated, shared a post, or simply believed in this project. It truly means the world to us.

More updates soon.

Pa’lante siempre. 🐸

A look behind the scenes at how we created our first 3D modeled Coquí for the film.

From test video to modeling and texturing, this is a small glimpse into the VFX process helping bring our vision to life. We’re excited to keep refining and pushing the VFX work as we move forward into production and postproduction.

Something new is coming.

We’ve been building behind the scenes — not just films, but a space where you can directly support the stories we’re telling.

🎬 The La Mansa Mirada Film Company online shop is launching soon.

Coquí merch will be available at launch — and every purchase helps fund our current and future projects.

This isn’t just merchandise.
It’s a way to be part of the film.

Stay tuned.

First Coquí prototypes are here. 🐸

They’re early. Simple. Just test prints.

But holding them in my hands made this story feel even more real.

In the film, the Coquí isn’t just a frog.

It’s the island’s heartbeat.

And when that heartbeat fades… so do faces, so does memory, so does home.

This little prototype represents something much bigger — ancestry, displacement, and the cost of silence.

Huge thank you to my cousin @madd.rawb for printing these sample prototypes and helping bring this vision into the physical world. 🙏🏽 It means more than you know.

More updates soon as we keep building.

SOUND IS THE FIRST THING TO DISAPPEAR

Sound is the first thing to change.
Before a face disappears.
Before a room shifts.
Before anyone realizes what’s happening.
The Coquí dips for a second.
The choir thins.
The air feels wrong.
In Coquí, sound isn’t background — it’s warning.
It’s memory.
It’s culture.
It’s resistance.
Plena. Domino tiles clacking on the patio.
The layered rhythm of family talking over each other.
The high-pitched call of a frog that refuses to be silent.
And then — silence.
Not horror-movie silence.
Not jump-scare silence.
But cultural silence.
When the Coquí are silenced… the island follows.
This film isn’t built on screams.
It’s built on what disappears first.

THANK YOU TO ALL

I just want to take a second to say thank you.

To everyone who has donated so far — whether it was $5 or more — it genuinely means a lot. Early support on a project like this isn’t just about the amount. It’s about belief.

Belief that this story deserves to be told.

Belief that Puerto Rican voices matter.

Belief that small films can carry big emotion.

We’re still in the early stages of this campaign, and every bit of support helps move Coquí forward — whether that’s donating, sharing the link, or sending it to someone who might connect with it.

If you’ve been watching from the sidelines, this is your little nudge. Even the smallest contribution makes a difference.

Thank you for being here. Truly.

COQUÍ MERCH AVAILABLE SOON

We’ve been working on something new behind the scenes.

We’re starting to make a few Coquí pieces ourselves — mugs, hats, and a couple other things — because we’ll be setting up at a local farmers market soon.

It felt important to us to make them by hand instead of outsourcing it. There’s something special about being involved in every part of the process — even the small details.

This project has always been about building things intentionally and with care. This is just another step in that.

More soon 🐸

HELP US BRING COQUÍ TO LIFE

We’re still at the very beginning of this journey — and that’s okay.

Coquí is a student short film rooted in Puerto Rican folklore, memory, and the quiet horror of displacement. Right now, we’re in the earliest stage of bringing it to life, and every bit of support helps us move closer to production.

If you’ve been curious about how to support, our Kickstarter has a few small but meaningful tiers — from sticker packs, to behind-the-scenes shout-outs, to limited-edition mugs and a photo book documenting the making of the film.

Each tier isn’t just a reward — it’s a way to help this story find its voice.

If you can’t donate, sharing the campaign means just as much. Truly.

This film is being built with community, not shortcuts.
