This weekend we celebrated the life of my mother-in-love, Michelle Batten. She left a legacy that will live on forever and it was so beautiful to see how so many came to show their respects. The church was packed to capacity!

Roc, Kiba, and Romond honored her with the most powerful, love-filled eulogy (obituolugy 😊) I have ever heard. Any mother could only hope her children would honor her like they did.

Sharing these photos because even in our profound sadness, there was so much gratitude in being together as family. Marrying into the Batten family has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. I will miss her always.

SIGNING DAY! Grateful beyond words for the coaches who poured into Zay, believed in him, and helped shape the young man he’s becoming.

Indulge me please because it took me a little time to gather my thoughts and emotions about this football season. Watching Zay play football as QB has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Today he was recognized for 1st Team All Region and I am so proud of him!

Our football journey has been filled with excitement, joy, heartbreak, change, and starting over more than once. Through every new beginning he showed heart, passion, and leadership. He stepped into three different programs and made an impact every single time.

I am so grateful for JPII. We could not have picked a better school or community to embrace us during Roc’s first year as the new coach and Zay’s final year of high school football. I am grateful for the senior moms who have become family, and for the chance to stand in the bleachers with some of my favorite women, cheering on the best eight seniors.

Zay, your journey is only beginning and I will always be your number one fan. Here are just a few of my favorites from this year. So grateful to @gavophoto for capturing most of these 💙 by @ssbatten

Eighteen. 💙 My baby boy is officially an adult, though he’ll always be my precious son. Zay, I am so proud of the young man you are. You love God, you lead with kindness, and you carry yourself with such humility and grace.

You’re good-natured, easygoing, and yet so strong, and a leader on and off the field. Friday night reminded me again of your heart and your fight, but what I love most is who you are beyond the game. Selfless, steady, and humble.
