The Inner West Princess ✨👑

Ever since I was a wee little child, I’ve always loved playing dress up. Whenever there’s a costume party with a theme I go all out, trying to think of outfits that would generate a reaction. I love watching the faces of the people I walk past, some look at me weirdly, others are dazed and confused, but nothing can beat the feeling of when a random stranger comes up to you and compliments your outfit.

It’s always been a dream of mine to be able to wear a gorgeous dress for the entire world to see, and last night that dream came true. In recent days, myself as well as many of my queer friends have been victims of hate-crimes and harassment purely based off how we present ourselves to the world. It’s an unfortunate and terrifying reality that many of the queer community face.

I know as an individual I won’t magically change the distorted perception of the homophobic masses, but I hope that a young queer person sees this and feels comfort knowing that despite all the negativity the world, people aren’t afraid to be themselves.

Wear that dress. Wear that suit. Wear whatever the FUARK you want. by @sseanm

being 23 is so weird…

life is starting to feel less like a mountain that I’m struggling to scale, and more like I’m slowly strolling up and down a never ending field of hills. there are days where I’m hyper-aware of the flatness of my feet, the aches of my liver, and the waves of subtle sadness that gently wash throughout my body. it feels so familiar, it’s almost comforting.

nostalgia perches itself on my shoulder, its weight is a gentle reminder of who I was and who I’m becoming. I still hate winter though, that hasn’t changed at all. I catch glimpses of myself through the eyes of my friends, and their presence guides me through the week. the warmth of mulled wine keeps me sane, and the bellowing of their laughter causes the muscles in my cheeks to strain.

the state of the world terrifies me, but I love to dance with my friends. I love to hoot and to holler till my throat begins to scratch and I lose my voice. I love drowning out the world with music loud enough to give a small Victorian child a concussion. I love spending hours in the kitchen cooking for people that are so close to my heart.

I love my friends.
