Literary Agenda special bookcircle with
footballer LILIAN THURAM! ⚽️ ⚽️ 🇫🇷

50 students.
1 book.
5 reading circles.
1 conversation that matters.
1 meeting with Lilian Thuram — here at SSE.

This year, Literary Agenda presents a special reading circle around White Thinking by Lilian Thuram.

A former World Cup-winning footballer, author and philantrophist, Thuram explores the history and mechanisms of racism and challenges us to think about race, identity and society.

HOW IT WORKS
50 students
→ receive a copy of White Thinking
→ discuss the book in groups of 10 (in November)
1 special encounter
→ meet Lilian Thuram at Stockholm School of Economics in late November to discuss the book, its themes and the questions it raises.

Five new group study rooms are becoming spaces for both learning and art 📚🎨

Artist and designer Cilla Ramnek has been commissioned to create an artistic intervention for five new group study rooms at the SSE Library, designed by Ivar Tengbom in 1926 and renovated in 2026.

Titled TEXERE II, the work is inspired by five pioneering women connected to SSE and uses weaving as a metaphor for how knowledge is created, bringing together ideas, experiences, and perspectives to form something new.

At the heart of the project are fuse beads (pärlplattor), a material deeply rooted in Swedish everyday life and childhood creativity. Ramnek transforms this familiar medium into a sophisticated artistic language, connecting craft, design, and learning while highlighting the relationship between the work of the hand and the work of the mind.

The commission is part of SSE’s ongoing commitment to integrating art into the academic environment and has been made possible through a donation from Ulrika Werdelin. taken in Stockholm School of Economics by @sselibrary

Summer reading anyone?🤓

The reading list for next academic year’s Literary Agenda 2026/2027 has arrived.

Whether you are spending your summer at the beach, in a park, or on the train, you might just find your next great read on this year’s list.

Now entering its ninth year, Literary Agenda brings together hundreds of students, faculty, and staff to read, reflect, and discuss books from different perspectives.

Registration for the program opens in August, so don’t sleep on this.

Happy reading! 💛

Good news! From today several classrooms in the red corridor on floor 3 will stay open for students until 21:00.

This is a trial period until 26 May, and whether the extended hours continue depends on how the rooms are used.

Please help us keep the rooms available by putting the furniture back and throwing away any trash, especially food items, before you leave.

Rooms included:
Marie-Louise Ekman, A328
The Cabinet, A336
Lobjär, A350
Lindgren, A342
Classroom A348

The rooms are available when not otherwise in use, so we can’t guarantee that all of them will be open to students every evening. taken in Stockholm School of Economics by @sselibrary

Welcome to the SSE permanent collection, Liminal by Johan Thurfjell.

Johan Thurfjell’s piece Liminal (2023) consists of a constructed doorway obscured by a blue banner. From underneath the curtain, a pair of shoes poke out giving the impression of someone standing right behind the veil. Printed on the curtain, a dreamlike smoke wafts across a moonlit sky.
One common motif of Thurfjell’s art is the combination of sculpture, technology, and traditional stagecraft. In Liminal, Thurfjell programmed a mechanism to move the shoes in a subtle but unexpected pattern. Sometimes the movement is a light shift in the direction of a foot. Other times, one of the feet may abruptly lift and tap the ground.

You can find Liminal in the @sselibrary .
