There’s nothing like waking up the next day and knowing everything is exactly how you left it. I’m not searching for my wallet, my keys, or my dignity anymore. Back then, I couldn’t imagine life without drinking. Turns out that I wasn’t losing anything worth keeping. I was letting go of one thing to gain everything that truly matters: my peace, my joy, and a purpose that God has called me to-far greater than any drink or drug. ✨✨

Sobriety wasn’t about giving something up. It was about letting God restore what I had lost—clarity, wholeness, nights I could remember, mornings I could be proud of, and a heart that could finally rest. Sobriety isn’t the end, it’s just the beginning. ✨✨

🙏🏻God, for the one who wants to quit but feels like they can’t, I pray you give them strength they don’t have, peace they’ve never felt, and the courage to believe freedom is possible. For so long, I thought I had to clean myself up before coming to God. I tried to hide, put on a show, and pretend I was fine…while secretly hoping God would change me. But real transformation didn’t start until I got really REAL with Him and invited the Holy Spirit into my life to change me. Every night I started bringing to Him my shame, my guilt, my fears, and my brokenness. Every night His answer was the same, “I love you, Trust me.”

Little by little, He softened my heart. He didn’t demand perfection, He just asked me to follow Him. As I read His Word, worshiped, and surrendered, He did what I never could—He set me free. Free from the masks, the guilt, the addiction’s, and the things that were destroying me. He saved my life the moment I stopped pretending and let Him in. Now, I’m not just sober—I’m truly alive. Fully me. A new creation.

What if grief is just another way we get to experience love? After losing people I love and letting go of so much, there are holes in my heart that sometimes I feel like the whole world can see. I can be having the best time of my life and right in the middle of it get hit upside the head with grief. Missing what once was and wishing so bad they were still here with me. It’s a strange thing to be enjoying the moment and then sadness in the same breath.

But I’ve come to learn that light always shines through the holes of what’s now missing in our lives. The people who are called home to heaven or simply leave our lives, the ones who really mattered never leave our hearts. We are better from having known them…the love you shared and the life you got to experience together. We may have called them a friend, a partner or a parent and only after they’re gone realize just how much of a teacher they truly were and forever will be.

The deeper the love, the deeper the grief, but also the greater our capacity for joy. And I wouldn’t trade the love I’ve known to escape the pain of losing it.

Maybe people can tell I’m different after everything I’ve said goodbye to this past year. I am. And while some of those spaces may never be filled the same way again, I’m learning that they don’t have to be for life to still be beautiful. Seems like yesterday I was sitting on the floor of this place with a lamp plugged into the wall as I installed and painted 2,100 square feet of floorboards. I had no idea then what I was building or everything these walls would eventually hold.

There is a lot of emotions going into turning in my keys at Britton Plaza today but mostly immense gratitude for the decade I got to run my business here. The rooms I leased out to other providers. The girls who worked for me that I had the privilege of training and watching become absolute rockstars. All the faces of the people I got to work on and work with over the years flash before my eyes.

The amount of love, strength, and purpose I poured into this place will forever make it one of my greatest achievements and all that I learned here will be coming with me into the next chapter.

To anyone and everyone who ever walked through the doors of Skin Science, whether you came for a service, worked with me, worked for me, rented a room, referred someone, or simply supported us, thank you. You were part of this season of my life and I will always cherish what we built here.

Nothing more whimsical than doing Epcots Dive Quest adventure in their 5.7 million gallon aquarium because you can! Got to glide through crystal clear water and see sand tiger and blacknose sharks, spotted eagle rays, all kinds of fishies, and my favorite ocean animal right now, sea turtles. Had a few very close run-ins with their slightly blind hammerhead shark named Haliaka and hung out with a 105-year-old Loggerhead! The wild is my home. It’s either in your blood or it isn’t! And this gator was smart enough to keep us guessing and big enough to prove he’d been doing something right for a while. This is hard to share with the world but it is too important to me to not share. I hope this helps anyone struggling or hurting. I hope that everyone can find hope and love who they are. I know that God turns all things to good especially when we let Him and He will do it even when we won’t. He offers grace upon grace to all of us. I’m grateful for the people who didn’t and still don’t give up on me, the treatment centers,recovery groups, friends, and family that brought me back to life. And my King Jesus for leaving the 99 over and over again. Get help if you need it , I sure did. ❤️✝️ #recoveryjourney #omedayatatime by @sshamblin
