Freedom, Stillness, + Peace

I’ve been thinking about my purpose. So much of my life has been stolen by depression and sadness. So much potential has slipped through my fingers because of doubt and insecurity. I’ve felt this desperate need for change and there’s been a courage burning through my spirit. I find myself constantly fighting my own thoughts and fears, how scared I am to die with so much regret and the what ifs. This cycle of doubt, insecurity and fear has kept me repeatedly stuck and honestly I so desperately need to break free.

Therapy has helped me be more connected with my mind/body/spirit and though that can be such a great thing, it can also be such a heavy burden. I realized how much anxiety has kept me hostage and quite frankly it still does. I go to sleep anxious and I wake up anxious…my whole nervous system does not recognize peace or stillness. I know many will read this and see a lack of God in my life but if it weren’t for my dependance in Him, I don’t think I’d be able to hold on for this long.
I recently heard of a sermon about Jesus walking on Water and Peter walking towards Him. Peter had faith that it was Jesus out there but once Peter stepped into the wind and waves he became overwhelmed by his own fear and doubt, losing his focus on Jesus. I resonated so much with this story because how much faith and trust I put in Jesus but so easily overwhelmed but my own fears.

I am grateful for how far He has brought me and for where He has me now. But I feel it in my spirit that He has greater plans for me but why can’t I trust myself to believe it?
I know we live in a LOUD world with daily bad news and sometimes I feel guilty for ‘wanting’ in the middle of it all but My soul longs for freedom, stillness, and peace.
I don’t know where this courage and longing will take me but I pray that Gods purpose and potential does not die with me. by @ssssilis
