The SSTA Hypersonics Team has won the 2025 Undergraduate Hypersonic Flight Design Competition, a national competition on behalf of the Joint Hypersonics Transition Office and University Consortium for Applied Hypersonics, securing the fabrication of their design, “Tachyon.” It will be tested at the prestigious testing and research facility, CUBRC.

The team worked over five months to develop and test their design, all while creating the hypersonics division at the SSTA in the process. In just this short amount of time, the team has been selected as one of the best in nation.

The Hypersonics Team would like to thank faculty at the UT Space Institute for their continuous support. Thank you to Dr. John Schmisseur, Dr. Stefen Lindorfer, and Dr. Cary Smith! 🌟
