“Only up from here” was a reoccurring phrase written in my journal everyday from January till now. I was trying to trick my brain into believing things could get better. This past year has been the most life changing, eye opening and strength testing time in my life. I fell to my lowest, where the only thing I knew how to think anymore was, “what’s the point of this?” And “why the fuck am I even here?” I battled everyday with the fact that people could not possibly wrap their head around why I didn’t wanna be here anymore. So if you are reading this and you get it, challenge the thoughts.
I found myself with no hope. Someone told me “you are breathing, so that means there is hope.” I got so low that I was scared of normalcy, scared of happiness because I didn’t know how to get out of the feeling of being mad that I was alive. I wrote down over and over “hey summer, come home, I miss you,” everyday until she started making her way back. She’s not settled, but she’s found me again, and everyday, I’m evolving back into her (funny how that works). I believe humans are taught to be oblivious, and my struggle with mental health has showed me that I’m not hardwired that way, which can be terrifying. It makes me think extremely existential, ALL the time, which overtime, created this huge tangle in my brain, made up by ropes of depression, anxiety, existential ocd, psychosis and suicidal ideation.
So,
I don’t know why I’m here… but I’m excited I get to now see why.
One day you will realize it has morphed into a memory, not reality.
Your story is not over.
