The new AR-1 carabiner is crafted from Grade 5 titanium with a polished Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) finish. First batch is currently being machined and will ship mid-November. Our stainless steel version will be shipping late-October.

Behind the scenes at Stabby Labs: The FN Pen has always started its life as extruded hex stock.

But this past June, we made a pretty significant change: we began machining every single FN Pen from solid round bar stock (including our Titanium batch).

That means every flat surface is milled directly on the CNC. It multiplies our cycle times and drives our machining costs up significantly, but we decided it was worth it. Because you can feel the difference.

The planes are flatter. The edges are crisper. The surface finish is in a completely different league from where we started with this product.

We’ve been eating the added cost because, to us, the payoff is unmistakable: a better pen/pencil/tool in your hand.

Every production run is another opportunity to push the FN Pen a little further.
