Baby Linton 4.0, my forever ultrasound baby.

My heart is breaking in ways I never knew it could, and I miss you with every part of me. You are all I can think about. You fill every quiet moment, every thought, every space in my heart.

I should be feeling excitement right now. I should be planning ways to tell people about you and that our family was growing, the final piece to our puzzle and imagining their smiles and happy tears. I should be dreaming of your arrival and counting down the days until we met. Instead, I’m counting heartbeats that stopped too soon, and carrying a silence that feels heavier than words can explain.

I find myself lost in the what ifs and the what could have beens. I wonder what Christmas would have looked like with you here. Our tiny newborn wrapped in soft blankets, your little fingers curled around ours, the joy of experiencing all those beautiful firsts again. I think about the happiness you would have brought, the chaos, the sleepless nights, the tiny cries I would give anything to hear.

Instead, I am left with heartache.

Society tells us not to speak too soon. It tells us to wait until we pass that first trimester mark because of the what ifs. But then sometimes the what if happens. And suddenly women are expected to carry the physical pain, the emotional pain, the mental pain, and somehow continue moving through the world quietly. To heal in silence. To grieve in silence. To suffer in silence.

The world can already be such a hard place to navigate, but asking women to carry this kind of heartbreak quietly makes it so much harder.

You were real. You existed. You were loved. You mattered.

And although I never got to hold you in my arms, I held you in my dreams, I held you in my hopes, and I will carry you with me for the rest of my life.

So to my forever ultrasound baby, and to Baby Linton 3.0, until the day I can hold you in my arms, I will always hold you in my heart.

Today, on IWD, I’m celebrating one of the most incredible little women in my world — my beautiful girl. 💜✨

The one who made me a mother and the one I strive to be better for every day.

Watching you grow is one of the greatest privileges of my life. You are kind, curious, strong, funny, and full of the brightest light. You are the most loving person I know. The world is so lucky to have a girl like you in it.

My hope for you is that you always know your worth, always use your voice, and always believe that you can do absolutely anything you dream of. Be brave, be bold, be compassionate, and never dim your light for anyone.
