The movie that introduced Capoeira to the world. Released in 1993, Only the Strong brought something completely fresh to the martial arts genre. Instead of standard karate or kickboxing, it put the rhythm, fluid acrobatics, and explosive power of Capoeira front and center, turning an Afro-Brazilian cultural art form into an international pop-culture sensation.

        Known Around the World As:
        🇧🇷 Brazil: Esporte Sangrento
🇫🇷 France / French Canada: La Loi du Strong / La Force du Sang
🇪🇸 Spain / Latin America: Sólo El Más Fuerte / Fuerza de la Ley
🇩🇪 Germany: Street Fighter II (capitalizing on the 90s fighting game boom!)
        🇮🇹 Italy: Solo la Forza
        🇷🇺 Russia: Только сильнейшие (Tol’ko sil’neyshiye)

I do not know the photographer to credit here, if you know, please let me know. Rest in power, Jackie. We’ve watched them since 2020, almost as a metaphor for freedom, nature, harmony, sacrifice, and an escape from our world. by @staceytravis777

RIP MTV! Back when #MTV was still gloriously weird, I had the wild luck of a being a collaborator with Julie Brown so I got to be a part of Just Say Julie-Julie’s brilliantly bonkers sketch comedy show that let us spoof pop culture. I would spend 100 on a wig or outfit to bring a character to life- and watched them beam around the world. I was paid little but we would jump into current music videos and riff like a manic in one take, and I loved every second of it. We made fun of the culture in the late 80’s. The sets were thanks to the genius of #AlleeWillis yes that Allee Willis! Julie and her cohort Charlie were up for anything and it was such a blast. It was a time when the network shaped culture-and let us be gloriously unhinged while doing it. Thanks for the memories MTV . You were messy, loud, addictive and occasionally brilliant. For a hot minute, you let the creatives run the asylum. You can still find some of the shows on YouTube. #justsayjulie #juliebrown @mtv by @staceytravis777

So sad today, I was so lucky to work with her twice and to meet her was a thrill. So grateful for her decades of amazing performances, her directorial work, and her books, and photography. Sending love to her family, children and close friends. by @staceytravis777

Thank you to @staceytravis777 for telling your story! Los Angeles is where people think of when we talk about the film industry - we have five and six generations deep of crew and cast members who know how to make the best films and television shows. Let’s keep it that way! #keephollywoodhome by @staceytravis777
