I became a “baby daddy” at 18 and the mother was about 16. That road has been filled with ups and downs. To date, I haven’t played much of a role in her life as things are pretty strained with that aspect of my life. I have chosen to reduce myself to a ‘wage garnishment deduction’. But my oldest baby has a wonderful mother and she's doing an excellent job with her. I’ll save that story for another time.

I didn’t become a “father” until I turned 28yrs old and ever since I’ve been very intentional and determined to elevate as a man first while my other roles align themselves in my manhood. The children that I produced from that point on have benefitted from all the mistakes I’ve made as a “baby daddy”. It seems unfair, and it just might be, but I was taught a long time ago to ‘control the controllables’, so that’s what I intend to do.

With that being said, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who took the time out to support me on this journey toward righteousness. I have a long road ahead of me, but I intend on getting there. This book has impacted many lives according to the email, txt, inbox messages. I pray that it can continue adding value to those that invest in the material.

P.S – The little girl on the book cover is my middle baby because I felt it would be important for her and her unborn children to see visuals like this so they could dream bigger.

I experienced physical abuse as a child. The person who did it spent 16yrs in jail behind it. It was my first experience with a “male figure”. I was 4yrs old and he was trying to harm me every chance he got. Shxt was awful, but look at me now, I’m outside!

I’m just being the man that I wish I had in my life. Every experience builds or destroys us. The choice is ours. Don’t allow someone’s opinion of you or your past keep you away from your goals. F*** that, go get it...

I wrote this book to share my perspective with parents on using sports to raise children, and more specifically daughters. I use a dope a** basketball scenario to convey the message. I pray it helps someone. I share a wealth of wisdom between the pages... As usual, All Praises Due.. taken in Norcross, Georgia by @stack_williams7

I knew this day would come at some point, which is why every time I got a chance to visit Connecticut, I would prioritize spending time with my grandfather. He lived a wonderful life. Being able to live for 95 years is truly a blessing in itself. My granddad was an honorable man. He showed me what being responsible and integrity looked like.

He wasn’t a man of many words of affection, but he showed his love for you through his actions. Being that my dad (his son) was killed four months prior to me being born, my Grand Pops was my direct link to my father. So I took that relationship seriously because he was the closest person I could study that was cut from the same cloth as my father.

Rest well, Pops. Until we meet again, I’ll do my best to continue making this Williams name look amazing out here through my work and the works of your great-grand babies!

Love you,
Little Stanley

I’d like to say Peace to the Salvation Army for recognizing Syracuse Football’s commitment to serving the community.

Thank you to our Head Coach for supporting a culture that gives our young men opportunities to grow beyond football. Our players embraced those opportunities with generosity and care, contributing over 1,500 community service hours last semester and this summer combined, serving more than 23 community organizations through school visits, nonprofit outreach, youth mentorship, and more.

As Director of Player Development, I take pride in leading this work....From building community partnerships and organizing opportunities to helping our players understand the impact of their presence. Developing athletes means helping them recognize their value, accept responsibility, and use their influence to strengthen the people around them.

This recognition reflects the commitment of our Player Development department and our interns, who balance their academics with the daily demands of supporting this program. Special appreciation to Cole Thomas and Meadow McNeil for their work supporting our community service efforts.

Proud of our players. Grateful for our staff. Committed to building young men whose impact reaches far beyond the game. 🍊

One thing I've learned from being around elite athletes is that the biggest opponent usually isn't another person. It's the version of yourself that's looking for the easiest way out.

That battle doesn't happen under the lights. It happens in the quiet moments when nobody is watching. It's the conversation you have with yourself when the alarm goes off. It's deciding whether to stay for extra film or head home. It's choosing recovery when your friends are choosing convenience. It's doing the little things that don't earn applause because you know they'll eventually produce results that do.

I've realized discipline isn't about living a perfect life. Nobody does. It's about learning not to let temporary emotions make permanent decisions. We've all had moments where we didn't feel like training, didn't feel like studying, didn't feel like doing the work. The feeling isn't the problem. The problem is when we allow that feeling to become our standard.

The athletes who separate themselves understand that discipline is an investment. Every time they choose what they need over what they want, they're making a deposit into a future that nobody else can see yet. Most people quit because the rewards take too long to show up. Elite athletes keep going because they've learned to trust the process long before the results arrive.

I've come to believe that's one of the greatest forms of confidence. Trusting that today's disciplined decisions are building a future that's worth waiting for.

After three years, my book Between The Lines is officially available on Amazon.

Writing it took the same discipline I teach every day. Director of Player Development for Syracuse Football. Multiple master's degrees earned along the way. Years spent mentoring young athletes. And still finding the hours between professional obligations and raising four children to get these lessons on paper.

This book is the culmination of nearly two decades in athletics, education, and mentorship. It's about what truly develops a young athlete in the grassroots youth basketball space. Not just the physical training, but the mindset, the character, and the decision-making that shape who they become long after the game ends. Written for readers ages 11 to 18, and for every adult guiding them.

For every professional who believes there's no time to build something of your own: the time is made, not found. Early mornings, late nights, ten focused minutes at a time. That's how three years becomes a finished book.

Available now. Link in bio. @btl_thebook

Peace,
Stack

Earlier in my career, I spent a lot of time helping families navigate recruiting. We'd talk about camps, evaluations, visits, and which schools might be the right fit. Today, working inside a Power 4 football program, I see many of those same relationships from a completely different perspective. Looking at both sides has taught me something I wish more people understood.

Not every conversation with a college coach has to end with an offer. Some of the most valuable relationships you'll ever build won't produce an immediate opportunity, and that's okay.

I've watched families become discouraged because a coach stayed in touch but never offered a scholarship. I've seen athletes stop communicating with coaches the moment they committed somewhere else. I've watched people treat relationships as valuable only when they were producing something tangible. The problem with that mindset is that this profession has a long memory.

The football world is much smaller than it appears. Coaches change schools. Staff members earn promotions. People move into leadership positions. The way you communicate, the respect you show, and the professionalism you display often outlive the recruiting process itself. A relationship that doesn't open a door today may introduce you to someone years from now when you least expect it.

One of the best pieces of advice I can give any athlete or family is this. Build relationships because they're worth building, not because you're expecting something in return. The people who earn the most respect in this profession aren't always the ones with the biggest network. They're the ones whose character makes people want to stay connected long after football has moved on.

One thing sports has taught me is that people love celebrating big moments, but championships are usually built on really ordinary days.

Nobody posts the athlete who got eight hours of sleep. Nobody celebrates the player who made it to treatment every single day for six months. Nobody gives a standing ovation for the guy who consistently took notes in meetings or stayed ten extra minutes after practice to clean up something he struggled with. Those moments don't make highlight reels, but they build the people who eventually do.

I've watched athletes chase big breakthroughs while ignoring the small decisions that actually create them. They want confidence, but they don't want the daily preparation that creates confidence. They want respect, but they overlook the little habits that earn trust. They want opportunities, but they underestimate how often coaches are quietly evaluating the things that never show up on Saturdays.

The older I get, the more convinced I become that discipline isn't measured by what you do once. It's measured by what you continue doing after it stops feeling exciting. That's where identity is formed. That's where habits become part of your character. That's where average athletes slowly separate themselves from talented athletes who never learned how to stay consistent.

I've never believed greatness suddenly appears. I think it quietly introduces itself through small decisions that are repeated so often they eventually become impossible to ignore.

Yesterday was a lot, on and off the field. UConn’s Homecoming meant it was mine too. Hadn’t been on that field since 2007. Walking around brought back so many memories with the guys I played with from 04–08. Life’s changed a lot since then, so being back hit different. Grateful for it.

I knew UConn would be tough. I know the cloth of that program, I know the cloth of Connecticut. This state has always had talent, even when the outside world slept on it. No matter where this journey’s taken me, I stand sturdy on where I’m from.

Hartford is home, and home is hurting right now. The same things that make you love this city can make it hard to love sometimes. There’s real pain here, people fighting to hold onto hope. But that’s not the whole story….there are incredible people from Hartford doing great things every day, and I’ve always wanted to be one of them.

Not because I got it all figured out, I don’t. I’ve just been blessed to keep growing and finding my way. If my journey makes somebody from Hartford, or anywhere, believe a little more in their own possibilities, that means everything. Keep working toward whatever it is you want. Where you’re from is part of your story, not the ending.

Lastly, sending love and strength to the families impacted by the recent tragedies around Hartford. No words can fix that kind of pain. Peace to those who transitioned 🕊️, and love to everybody fighting to keep going. ❤️

Peace,

When I worked directly with athletes and families, I used to hear the same conversation all the time. "Once I get to college, everything is going to change."

I understood why they believed that. College football feels like the destination when you're in high school. It's the goal you've worked toward for years. But after spending time inside a Power 4 program, I've realized something that completely changed my perspective.

College doesn't magically make you more disciplined. It doesn't suddenly make you more accountable. It doesn't automatically make you a leader. What it does is reveal the habits you've been practicing long before you ever stepped on campus.

I've watched athletes with incredible physical ability struggle because they never learned how to manage their time, communicate through adversity, or take ownership without someone pushing them. I've also watched athletes who arrived with less attention quietly earn the respect of everyone around them because they already knew how to show up consistently, accept coaching, and do the little things right every day.

That's why I encourage families, trainers, and high school coaches to think beyond recruiting. Don't just prepare an athlete to earn a scholarship. Prepare them to sustain one. Teach them how to manage their calendar, communicate professionally, keep their word, handle disappointment, and take ownership of their growth. Those lessons won't show up in a highlight video, but they'll show up every single day once college begins.

The commitment isn't the finish line. In many ways, it's the first real test.

Most people think leadership starts when titles come.

Captain. Coach. Director. Veteran.

The Truth is… leadership starts long before any of that.

It starts with habits. How you walk into rooms. How you treat people when nobody’s watching. How consistent you stay when life gets heavy. How disciplined you remain when excuses would be easier. The strongest cultures in sports are never built off talent alone. They’re built off standards.

Daily standards and Unseen standards.....Player development isn’t just about helping athletes perform better on Saturdays. It’s about helping young men grow into leaders who can carry responsibility long after the game stops.

Every interaction matters...That’s the standard.

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF ELITE ATHLETES | DISCIPLINE PT.1

I don't think discipline is about forcing yourself to do things you hate. I think that's where we've gotten it wrong.

The athletes I've respected the most weren't walking around every day feeling motivated. They weren't excited about every workout or every early morning. They got tired. They got frustrated. Some days they wanted to sleep in, skip treatment, avoid film, or take shortcuts just like everyone else. The difference was they had stopped making decisions based on how they felt in the moment.

They had learned to think beyond today.

I've noticed that elite athletes have an unusual relationship with time. They don't just think about the decision in front of them. They think about the person that decision is creating. Missing one workout doesn't seem like much until you realize you're also practicing becoming someone who skips workouts. Showing up one extra time doesn't seem life changing either, until you realize you're practicing becoming someone who can be counted on.

That's why I don't think discipline is really about saying no. I think it's about saying yes to a future that nobody else can see yet. Every choice is quietly answering the same question. Am I feeding the person I am today, or am I investing in the person I want to become?

The athletes who last the longest usually understand something that takes the rest of us years to learn. Discipline isn't punishment. It's an act of self-respect. It's choosing to honor your future even when your present is asking for something easier. Over time, those decisions become habits, those habits become character, and that character becomes the foundation that everything else is built on.
