POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Wrestling cards got me back into the hobby in late 2018. I’ve collected wrestling memorabilia, figures, shirts, posters, and everything else my entire life. I had never even thought about wrestling cards until I saw people in a wrestling collector group I was in talking about wrestling card box breaks. This intrigued me. It was another opportunity to collect something wrestling related and chance to reconnect with a hobby from my childhood. Since then my passion for wrestling cards has only intensified. I left my 15 year career in technology to make a bet on myself. I didn’t realize it at the time, but wrestling cards were a huge force for pushing me towards entrepreneurship.

There’s no more passionate audience than wrestling card collectors. I feel very fortunate to partner with @wwegellman and @rbicru7 on Booked to Last. The building of that show, Wrestling Card Takeover in Rosemont, and the future of the category excited me more than anything else across the industry. It feels very much like things are just getting started.

I tend to overly obsess with studying the categories I collect in. Most collectors (myself included) loved the Panini era of wrestling cards. It was just three years, but damn it was packed with a “Superman Punch”.

Roman Reigns has very little Superstar-worn/used material in general. I know I’m bias, but upon my evaluation of this card I think it’s one of the most important wrestling cards from the Panini era. This card came out at the height of the Bloodline story. Many WWE fans would say this is one of the most important stories the company has ever told. It catapulted Roman into super stardom. This was just a piece I had to own.

I want to thanks Roscoe aka @lonnieskywalkerivcollector for making this available to me. Roscoe is a true professional. He worked with me on mutual terms and couldn’t have been any easier for a deal of this magnitude. I want to thank Nic @thewharfsportscards. He helped me turn 59 cards into this 1 card in the most efficient manner possible.

Happy collecting☝🏻

I like football cards.

I documented the acquisition of the 2012 Prizm Reggie Wayne Finite 1/1 in my content. It was a private deal. It took some sacrifice. I would do it again in a heart beat.

In my quest to build out the most significant Colts Prizm collection in the universe you need cards like this Reggie. I almost dropped to the ground when I knew it could potentially be available. I’m convinced that if I didn’t take the time to build the relationship I would have never have landed it.

Relationships are everything. The hobby is a forever game. If you’re playing the game the people matter more than anything else.

I sat on this card raw for 6 months. I was going to grade it at the National, but honestly didn’t want to deal with the madness. I woke up one morning and decided it was time.

Obviously, thrilled with the result. Last slide for the pairing.

Happy collecting!

The cards you need most aren’t public.

This app is like your personal collecting website. The more you share your thoughts about the collection you want to build the more good things happen. The more you create relationships with other collectors the more good things happen. The more you post your damn cards the more good things happen. I’ve always viewed this space as a magnet. It’s impossible to land the best cards all the time because most of them are buried in collections. Enter this card.

It was about 3 years ago that I decided to attempt to build one of the best Luck collections on the planet. I didn’t care that he lost people a bunch of money because he retired early. I cared because he gave me more moments to remember than I deserve as a fan. A year ago I decided to create focus on that mission. I wanted to create the best Luck Prizm collection in the world. I’ve knocked out Gold and Gold Vinyl runs. I’ve stacked his Finites. It’s been a slow an continuous build. My number 1 goal has always been if you have a card that you think I need I want you to come to me first. That’s what’s happened with this one.

First, I want to thank @guntherscards for the deal. There’s very few collectors in this space who are able to dig up cards like Gunther. He’s got a secret power when it comes to finding grails and thank him for bringing this one to me. Next, a shout out to @thewharfsportscards for funding this one. Nic’s service is amazing. It’s never about not having enough money to buy these cards. It’s always about keeping my money working for me while sell off cards that don’t mean as much.

I’m bias, but I think this is one of the best Luck cards ever made. It’s my first Pylon. It won’t be my last. These things are like the shiniest silvers on steroids.

Happy collecting!

A 2011 Larry Fitzgerald National Treasures shield auto sold for $21,600.

We recently talked about a Fitzgerald Black Finite sale near $19,000. Those two sales made me stop and think about how collectors are valuing the top cards of players who spent their careers outside the quarterback conversation.

@packnicholson had a different reaction to this one. The action photo sits above a white space for the shield and autograph. To him, it looks like two cards put together.

Pack and I talk through the sale on the latest episode of @thefootballcardpod. Out now on the Stacking Slabs Network.

Which wrestling card set deserves more attention than it gets?

Adam’s answer is 2019 Topps Transcendent.

The autograph checklist. The framed cards. The cut signatures. The Schamberger sketches.

He explains what that release meant for wrestling cards and why it still matters to him. His connection includes a Becky Lynch 1/1 he traded a Stone Cold autograph to acquire.

Knowing the history of a set gives you another reason to care about the cards in it.

You don’t have to remember watching a player to find a reason to collect them.

Mark (@mjs_sportscards) is learning the history of the WNBA through Pinnacle, Rittenhouse, and Fleer Ultra.

The cards introduce him to players he didn’t watch. Learning what they contributed gives him more reasons to care about the league he follows today.

That’s something I love about collecting. You start with a card and end up wanting to know more.

Mark joins Katelyn aka @coldlunchcards as cohost for Season 6 of The WNBA Card Podcast.

Preview episode for Season 6 of @wnbacardpod out now on the Stacking Slabs Network.

Josh still remembers pulling a Ja’Marr Chase Gold Kaboom for a customer who paid $8 to get into the break.

@odeezy_sportscards helped that customer through the sale, which Josh recalls landing around $17,000–$18,000.

What stayed with me was how he talked about helping someone in his community.

That same care showed up throughout our conversation. Answering messages. Shipping cards. Giving people a place to spend time between breaks.

You can’t control what comes out of the box. You can control how you treat the person buying in.

Josh O’Daniel joins me on Passion to Profession this week on the Stacking Slabs Network.

When Oday described the shop he wanted to build, people questioned it.

Why give up floor space for tables? Why let people come in to trade and hang out without buying anything?

He knew he couldn’t build the same shop as everyone else.

He wanted a place where families would spend time together. Now he sees them come back week after week.

Great conversation this week on Hobby Jobs with Oday Hishmeh, Founder and Owner at @itstime_agourahills.
